hi,
with my first attempt to lose weight, i used the regular slim fast products and i lost weight and virtually felt great. i lost 30 pounds and had gained back about 8. so, i decided to try the low carb way, considering how popular it is. as a result, i thought it was a faster more effective way to lose weight. well, i lost 5 pounds in one week and kept going to try to lose the remaining three. i started feeling real weak and tired and blamed it on the heat (summer is just beginning in pgh). now, i replace the morning "low carb" meal bar with cereal and feel much more energy. has this happened to anyone else. i'm thinking this just may be my imagination. i workout one hour a day most days of the week, so just watching me type this is making my common sense kick in like DUH! that's why you were feeling that way. i'm interested in finding out if anyone experienced a similar situation.
thanks! oh, and i also would snack on fat free pretzles through out the day, about a serving and a half, and ate 3 servings of fruit, 2 veggies, and hardly any bread.

Carbs are your friends. They give you the energy you need to be better and do more.

FWIW, Slim Fast has little going for it but marketing. There are much better companies in the meal replacement business, such as Prolab, Labrada, VPX, even EAS.

okay, so where do i get this stuff, gnc or something? i don't know how people survive off these low carb diets. could it be because they don't use most of the energy, like working out? i was depressed and tired and couldn't do anything. now i feel better, thank god! i'm also in college and need energy for that!! thanks for the respons.

I also HATE low-carbing. No thanks. I can lose weight just as fast counting calories and eating CARBS - plus have more energy for workouts.

Never shop at GNC. Their prices are triple that of those online. I can't post links, but a quick Google search will produce some results (perhaps not the best places to shop but good enough). I'd recommend Prolab Matrix if you like the taste of cinnamon oatmeal. Lean Mass is probably better than Naturally Lean (divide it into two servings if you don't want the 390 calories at once). Get a shaker bottle while you're at it (most places will provide it for free with your order or maybe a couple bucks).

It seems to me very common (albeit not in all instances) that low carbers don't do much exercise, although I have heard some say they have more energy while low carbing than they had before. Granted, this would suggest to me they were eating exceptionally poorly before.

I low carb, and excersice 1 to 3 hours a day, and feel fine. Well, I wouldn't say it's low carb. I try to eat more things that are natural. I eat a lot of tuna, and lean chicken. I eat fresh vegetables. I eat nuts. I do stay away from pasta and breads, because starshes IMO are no good. Carbs aren't bad, just remember where you get them from. If you get it from a bakery, rather then a piece of fruit, well to me it's a now brainer which is better.

Carbs ARE your friend. But remember, too much of anything can be bad for you. That includes certain carbs, that includeds, fats, or protein. Too much of anything is bad usually.

BTW, It seems to me you weren't eating enough. Breakfast is your most important meal of the day. if your work nights like me, and your dinner is close to your bed time, you don't dinner to be your biggest meal of the day.

I eat a big breakfast, and then a medium lunch, and I drink a shake for dinner.

I drink the low carb shakes from USF, because they taste better and are cheaper then those Atkins Shakes. As for those bars, I eat one of those for a snack, so you shouldn't be eating those just for breakfast. (no matter what the package says)

Most of those bars are like 2 or 3 carbs, and small. You need more carbs then that. Even Atkins (even tho I'm not an Atkins follower) said it's bad to COMPLETELY eliminate carbs. Too much, or too little of things can be bad.

Yeah counting calories may work for some but not all ppl,at least not me.Im on atkins and i weight lift 3 times a wk.I dont starve myself but i do eat plenty of protein to build muscle.Ive notice that i dont get as winded when i move around as i use to.So low carbing is working for me.

Low carbing is not for everyone I personally do low carbing I do have more energy!!! And yes I do exersice I had to take alot of the bad stuff I was eating out of my diet thats why I went to low carb to limit breads, potatoes, white rice and things that are full of starches and soda that are full of sugars carbs/and cal. I keep both carbs/cal at a minamal(by just eating sensible). I eat tuna tukey bacon and turkey burgers and meat they have less fat than pork and beef and I eat vegtables it definetley beats counting calories at least I wont have to starve after I have reached my intake and I m still hungry /with low carbing I can get some string cheese of pickle or eat a turkey roll and not feel any guilt or like I have failed. Now she said she was on slimfast those are shakes!!! 1 shake for breakfast one for lunch and 1 meal yes you would be tired you are not getting enough protein and veggies in those shakes . Its better ways to do low carbing its NOT BAD! And futher more people who go from 200 carbs a day to 130 thats consider low carbing and its a good thing to cut back on your carb intake and calories but I personally tried low calorie and hated it! All the low fat food is nasty dressings and mayo like whats the point of eating if you feel like u are going to vomit when you do? So any way its whatever floats your boat for some low cal works for me low carb has worked and Im healthier than ever before has lost weight alot of weight and have completley changed my lifestyle and I love it!
