View Full Version : Infrared sauna any help with chemical sensitivities

Hi , I suffer from chemical sensitivity or environmental illnesses also. I react negatively to chemicals and some food smells. Just to keep this short .... I was wondering if anyone has tried using an "infrared sauna" to detox chemicals out. If you look up infrared saunas on the internet ...they all say it is a good thing for chemically sick people.
They are a bit expensive but I am willing to pay the price if it will help.
I also found a guy name Kirk who suffered badly from what he calls "Mercury Poisoning" he had chemical sensitivities and chronic fatigue and a long list of other symptoms. He was ill for 5yrs ...and his doctor told him that he would never get well. But the good news is he did. He did some chelating of mercury and ozone saunas and eating organic raw veggies and lots and lots of clean water. [ removed ] I also had my thyroid check out ...and it came back on the normal side even though my doctor said I look like I suffer from hypothyroid. I am still in the process of trying to rule out hypothyroid ....if it has anything to do with my allergies and chemical sensitivities.

I tried regular saunas and they did help for that day. Anytime I excercise or sweat a lot, my MCS always is better for the rest of that day only to return tommorrow. You might want to try a regular sauna first to see how that suits you before you invest a lot of money. I bought a portable wet sauna for $500 and it broke after 6 months. Right now I am investigating candida treatment and also milk thistle supplementation to maybe help me. Mine started after a course of antibiotics in 2000.

 Hi Ny,

Thanks for your response.
If you look up "Miracle saunas" they have a good article with Dr Rogers. She was sick with environmental illnesses. She wrote a book on "Detoxify or Die".
The Infrared saunas penatrates the skin deeper than the wet saunas. And maybe if you did the sauna more often you would eventually get better. This is good for the whole family so I am not to worried about the expense.
My doctor told me that my body is not detoxifying very good. Right now he has me doing a candida diet. Plus eating Stauss yogurt 5oz 3xday.(yuck) And culturelle probiotics and no carbs for a month.
I did the "Ultra ClearPlus" for chemically ill people for a month and it seemed to help..then I skipped one month then tried it again and I had a slight reaction to it so I decided not to use it again. It has been awhile since that happened and I would like to try it again and use the sauna and see what happens. Oh Ultra ClearPlus is a powder that is suppose to help detoxify your body of chemicals. I got it from the doctors office.
I know so many people with environmental illnesses it is amazing. What is happening to this world....is it getting polluted?
Take care
Marie

I'd be leary of the infrared sauna claim unless someone trustworthy has had success. The internet is filled with products that claim to cure chemical sensitivity because the sellers know that people are desperate, and that doctors are of no help. I can tell you one thing for sure. Stay away from ozone no matter what. Type in ozone health hazards in a search engine. I had my lungs permanently ruined by ozone exposure. I've been trying for years to find a cure. I made substantial improvements when I went on an anti allergy diet, but it's very hard to do. You have to give up all dairy, all sugar real or artificial, and all gluten- the hardest of all. It takes two years to heal. I lasted for six months and felt much better but lost 50 lbs. and I'm already a lean guy. I wish I had stuck with it. Areas to research for answers: gluten free diet, leaky gut syndrome, MCS cures, Dr. Mercola. Good luck.

Katalina,

Sorry to hear about your situation. How long have you had chemical sensitivities? Has anything helped?

Rob,
To make a very long story short, I actually started developing severe hypoglycemia first, then I realized that food allergies were causing that, and now I have both severe food, environmental allergies (I've always had them, but they're a million times worse), and SOME chemical sensitivity that I'm just starting to notice. In May of '03 I started with heavy courses of antibiotics because it was thought that I had an inner ear infection, which turned out to be labyrinthritis which lasted one horrible year (and now I have vestibular damage), and allof this REALLY just recently developed in this past January when I came down with the flu and pleurisy. I was on tons of antibiotics then, and it just seems since then, all of these problems arose and I got really sick. I've felt extremely ill since January of this year. Since all of this is pretty new to me, I'm afraid I don't know anything that really works, at least yet. I'm just doing A LOT of research and learning. Good luck!

mairepom,
I use and own a far infrared sauna .I have been using it for 5 years .It is great for detox.I've suffered from a great many aliments. The sauna seems to keep everthing down to a low roar.I also use it my massage clinic,Where I live we use it alot more in the winter. As the winters ae extremely COLD and the summers HOT.As you sweat the sweat from your body expels the toxins.I have one clinic uses this sauna almost everyday. When she first came to me hear sweat would bleach the towel. She is a lot better.Take care and if you can swing it a far infrared red sauna is a great investment.Sorry I can't tell you the name of the sauna I use.Love it and would never sell it.

Thanks Motherearth,

I don't know how someone could go wrong with the infrared sauna...my doctor even told me this last time that I went to see him that an Infrared sauna would probably do me good. He himself was thinking of investing in one to use in his office. That would be great...then I could use his until I could afford one.
The doctor that I mentioned Dr Sherry Rogers was very ill with environmental and chemical illness and she has gotten better..that is why she is promoting the infrared sauna.

Take care
Marie
