How would I know if I am allergic to cats? I have never owned cats before, but I am hinking of getting one so I was wondering what are the signs/symptoms so if I m allergic I can get treated.

I am usually around my neighborhs cat, and he (the cat) visits my house frequently. Well I will sit there and pet him and after a few minutes I will feel my nose tickle. And after a while I will start sneezing alot and my eyes will get real red. Once he was on my bed and when I layed down after a while I started to sneeze. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Sounds like you are allergic to cats. I am allergic to cats and I had to get rid of mine. The allergens they produce have to build up in your house, it takes a month or two, but you'll feel your health go downhill whenever you are at home. Maybe get an outside cat and limit contact. Try going to an allergy specialist for allergy testing to be sure.

I wouldn't advise getting a cat if you think you are allergic. We have 2 even though I have an allergic husband. He takes Advair, Singular, and Zyrtec so that he can survive in this environment. That's over $100 in medication a month. Stick with a pet you're not allergic to. Cats can live 20 years.
