I have a concern as to how low the diastolic pressure can go before there is concern? Mine seems to go way down to 60 sometimes! what might cause this? Medications? I guess the normal is 8o or there abouts. I do know I get very tired when this happens, thank you, akjoha

akjoha,
I think that's perfectly normal and healthy.
I aso think that the cause and effect might be the opposite of what you stated: when you are very relaxed and dozy, your BP is down as a result.
Often when I just crash into my recliner...just monuted froma snooze in front of the TV, I'll get ver low readings also. It's always a nice feeling.

Count your blessings!
I have the opposite problem.
I have high diastolic pressure. When I'm stressed, my diastolic pressure likes to sit at 90. At it's best it is only as low as 80. My systolic pressure can get higher when stressed but it's almost always at 118-120. The highest it will go is 130. At 2:00 this morning, we had to take my daughter to the ER for an asthma attack. Came home, went to bed for a few hours and then woke up. Took reading about 9:00 and it was is 118/90. My heart seems to be more resilient than my veins. My cholesterol is 153.
My doc has recommend weight loss and I've lost 10 pounds in 2 months. I see the doc in one month and hopefully I will have lost more by then. Doc said either way if diastolic is at 90 he will add another med. (I'm on Hyzaar 100/25; max dose.) And then I can watch my quality of life take a dive, which makes me very sad. :( Wish I could figure it out.
Anyway enjoy your low diastolic. But if you are fatigued, get that checked out. Life is too short!

Thank you both for replies! Guess most of us cannot have a happy medium with drugs we are given. I just cant tolertate most of them , and as I posted before must take the lowest doses of all meds I take. I dont think Drs bother to read any warnings that come with the drugs, just perscribe them and wait and see, guess not much else they can do. I just wish they would read my chart before handing out more.I get so upset telling every one over and over again.
Perhaps I should have started a new message but am asking if Ace inhibitors are always neccessary for heart problems, they are my worst enemy! akjoha

About the ACE's. My husband has heart disease& he takes a bata blocker so I don't know what kind of problems require ACE's. I am allergic to them. They are the worst Bp med I have ever taken. I took Altace. what kind do you take?
Good Luck! :bouncing: :bouncing:

I have taken captopril for years some time back affected my kidney function!
After heart attack some months back Dr put me on Lisinipril which was just as bad and worse for me, it even makes my balance way off and always to the right, hair loss on top , muscle aches nerve spasms you name it thats what it does to me.I am NOT that young anymore and have to take smaller doses as seems everything makes me worse and believe me I give them enough time to work! akjoha
The longer I was on lisinopril the worse the side effects became. In the end I even had to take sleeping pills to be able to cope with normal life. 3 months after stopping the pills I am at last back to normal and can sleep as I used to but complain about the birds waking me! I hope you find something that suits you better,
Good luck

60 is the ideal systolic, all other things being equal. If it makes you bit tired, try a little caffeine. 60 with a very high pulse pressure (say 140/60) could be another story.

My opinion is that "ideal" is relative.
If you have to supplement an "ideal", it's not at all an "ideal" for you.
