Hi all,
I just got back my diagnosis of mild dysplasia due to the HPV. Last time I had an inflammed cervix because of it. Let's just say that this last year has not been a picinic. My doctor recommended that I wait 3 months and come in for another biopsy. She said that most cases of mild dysplasia revert back on it's own. Has anyone had this happen or know someone who's had it happen? I am now taking 800 mcg of folic acid a day to try and prevent a leep or cryosurgery. Thanks.

It is true - if you boost your immune system and keep yourself healthy, the dysplasia will correct itself! That means eating right, cutting carbs & sugars, no smoking, taking vitamins DAILY, etc.

Yes, I've heard that your immune system will eventually take care of the dysplasia itself if you do like Kim said. Most of the time hpv clears itself up so don't worry...it will all be ok. If you need anymore help or someone to talk to then feel free to check out my post on HPV & Guilt. There are alot of people there who have helped with my questions and helped me deal with having hpv.

Believe it or not, HPV is not a death sentence - just a pain in the ---!!! You'll be ok! Yes, it's a shock at first, but the it'll wear off and you'll be back to your normal self in no time. Just take good care of yourself, eat right, don't smoke (it causes cancer anyway), keep your immune system healthy and you should be AOK!!
GOOD LUCK!!

Be grateful it's just mild.. I had severe dysplasia and *did* have to get a LEEP. It's no picnic. ;p Like the others have said it's not a big deal after you get past the shock. Good luck to you :)

If the dysplasia doesn't clear itself up, there are treatments available to get rid of the pre-cancerous cells, such as the LEEP and cryo-surgery. But, as I stated, it's not that bad once you get over the initial shock.

Thank you all very much for your encouragement. I am over the shock of it all and am being very diligent about taking my multi and my extra b complex with folic acid. I don't smoke anymore and am eating healthy. I just hope that it doesn't progress. My dr. said normally it doesn't but sometimes it does due to the HPV. I guess she needs to give me both sides of the coin. Again, thank you.

I just got my results from my pap today and I have severe dysplasia compared to last October when I had mild dyslpasia, so my world just came crumbling down.

I am so sorry to hear that. I really am. Did you go for a pap every three months to monitor it or wait 6 months. Were you treated for the mild dysplasia? What treatment did your doctor recommend? I am sure everything will turn out fine. From what I have been reading, these treatments get everything.

I had a pap back in October/ November 2002 and it revealed VERY mild dysplasia. I was scheduled for a LEEP in Feb. 2003, but I lost my job one week to the day of my surgery and my jerk employer screwed me on my insurance (never told me about Cobra or anything) and I couldn't have my surgery. I then had another pap in October 2003, to monitor it, & the dysplasia didn't change; still mild. At this time, I was now self-pay and I had to save up for the surgery. I had a pap again on 4/29/04 and it showed severe dysplasia and my dr told me that it was progressing extremely fast. My surgery has been scheduled for next Wednesday. I'm scared crapless! I HATE being put under and having to sign all those forms, "should anytihg happen to, you won't hold the hospital responsible" - BLAH BLAH BLAH. . .

They were going to do a LEEP for mild? I was told that they don't do that. I am really sorry to hear that your old boss didn't inform you about Cobra. I think that you should check with your states department of labor about that issue. As far as I know they have to inform you in writing of Cobra. Good luck on the surgery next Wednesday. They put you under for it? I thought they give you local. Be sure, I will be thinking of you as I am nervous about everything myself. I am sure everything will turn out fine. With all the info. I have been reading, I haven't read anything where someone had a horrible experience with a LEEP. Please let us know how you are doing.

I had a money hungry dr back then (I've got a different one now) and he didn't say anything about any other alternatives other than the LEEP. The dr that I have now said that if my pap came back mild again, then he would do the cryo surgery because he felt that the LEEP was too invasive for mild dysplasia, but we're moving forward with the LEEP because it came back severe. I found out about Cobra when I received a letter in June of 2003, dated March 2003, after the Cobra that I should've had expired. Hmmm...maybe someone "forgot" to mail my letter that month?

It sounds to me like the letter conveniently got lost in the mail. That is not a good thing. I probably would have raised h*ll! That's a shame though because you probably could have gotten the cryosurgery. Did your doctor tell you why she thinks it came back severe? I thought that it progresses from mild to moderate. Makes me think twice about opting to wait the three months for a repeat biopsy.

My paps have been mild since I first tested abnormal in November 2002. I have been under a TREMENDOUS amount of stress, the last 3-4 months, with my daughter's child support case w/her dead beat sperm donor and I honestly believe that the stress from that has put my health right down the toilet. It's true - stress is bad for your health!

It's true. Stress is horrible for your health. I can't even imagine the stress of a child support case. Take him for all he's worth! But that's a catch 22 with stress. They tell you stress can take a toll on your health but when you have something wrong with you how can you not get completely stressed out about it? I know for the last 9 months since my initial diagnosis and subsequent problems I have had nothing but stress. Not to mention the boyfriend situation. We are still waiting for his divorce to go through. It doesn't look like that's going to happen any time soon. There are supposed to be natural remedies for stress. I am not sure what they are though. Good luck with everything.

I had the LEEP 2 days ago, on the 26th, and it was great! I have no pain, no bleeding, no odor, no nothing! I'm actually wondering if he even did anything! I would definitely have the LEEP anyday!!! I'm supposed to go in on the 3rd of June to dicuss my results from the LEEP. I haven't been diagnosed w/ HPV, yet, but I'm really nervous that's what my diagnosis is going to come down to.

I hope that I don't have it either, BUT statistics show that 97.9% of all abnormalities are due to HPV :(. The doctor didn't say anything about afterwards, but it's common knowledge - don't do anything strenuous, no lifting, lots of rest. I think I'm healing ok, I really don't ahve any pain or anythiing like that. I do have some vaginal "ooz"; almost like a heavy clear discharge  . It's not a big deal, though.

Thanks to HPV I know all about statistics. My life is one big number now. 95% this, 80% that... so much fun! The best was when my gyn told me 85% of colposcopies come back with an inflamed cervix. Guess who fell into the other 15%. Ugh. Well, it's good to know that you are healing well and aren't in any pain. At least, if I find out that I need to have a leep or cryosurgery in August, I will think back to your experience.

I got the pathology reports back and my margins are clear except for some dysplasia that still exists on the top part of my cervix toward my uterus, which I have to have more surgeries to correct. It said nothing about HPV. I'm really not sure what that means and the doctor didn't say anything about it either!
