Hi everyone. I am 19 years old, 5'3" and I currently weigh about 150 and can just squeeze myself into a Juniors size 13 jean. I am not very active except for cleaning my house and going to the gym a few times a month. My husband is going TDY soon and will be gone for close to 3 months. I've decided that this is the perfect opportunity to try to get rid of the 30 lbs or so that I've put on since getting married last year. Problem is, I don't even know where to start. I've always been a healthy eater, besides my love of soda. I eat fruit and salads regularly and only buy leans cuts of meat, etc... Sooo fix me!! What suggestions do you have to get me started? I know it's probably wishful thinking to assume that I could lose all 30 lbs in just 3 months, but I just really want to Wow my sweet husband when he gets back. What do you think?
By the way, low carbing and diet pills are a no-no for me because of certain health problems that I have.

Hi AFS, I'm trying to do the same thing you are (or close to it, lol). I'm trying for 20 lbs in 2 months. Anyways, if you can, switch from regular soda to diet (of course water is best, but sometimes you just gotta have something sweeter). I think a can of coke has at least 100 calories in it, and if you love cola like my mom does, you can save about 300 calories a day. And if you don't like going to the gym much, maybe you could take up walking, for me it's one of the most easy things to do. I also got a pilates tape a week ago and you can really feel a difference in just a few workouts. I think the workouts that require a little exercise ball are the best.
ETA: Fitday.com is really helpful too.

Hey, well...I am 5'1 and I started out at 153lbs in March. I started my diet on March 24th, and I am already down to 140 right now. So that is about 13lbs in a little under two months. What I did was I found out how many calories I needed to consume normally...it was about 2100. Then I subtracted 500 from that, which is 1,600. I normally consume 1,200-1600 calories each day. Start eating more fruits and veggies, cut out the sweets, drink mainly water, and just make sure you eat healthy. Cut out fast food too. And no pop. Unless you know something is reasonable to get at a fast place, if it isnt - dont get it. It's also good to allow yourself 1 day a week to have whatever you want to eat - just dont go insane you know? And as for working out, I try to work out 4-5 times a week for at least 25-35 minutes. Walking, and cardio exercises have werked for me. But yeah, in a nutshell, that is what I have done to lose weight. Good luck!
