Honestly, it's the setbacks that make you stronger and will eventually help you succeed to your goal. And if you want it hard enough, you wont give up. Having one bad day is fine, just pick it back up the next day. Make sure you're eating properly so you don't end up letting your mouth run wild. I'm 16 and I've managed to lose a lot of weight thanks to this place - I've had 2 years of encouragement and insight from these people.

Yes, it is VERY hard considering we're surrounded by food and we're young, but you can perservere. Giving up will only make you gain more if you keep up bad eating habits. So... DON'T give up, just believe in yourself!

Hard but true as Sebum says. Dont think being 15 makes it harder than if you were older either. We old'uns have to face the same thing if we want to lose the bodyfat and keep our curves.

Life is not fair...it just "is". What you learn is adapt and overcome. You are on a journey to a better life and overcoming obstacles is part of it. It is not so much the goal at the end of it but what we learn along the way.

Patience is not just for the old...we have to learn this too. Time is not always on our side but we have to learn to make better use of what we have left. I am 52 and spent a year and a half dropping 62lbs of bodyfat after being 245lbs (and more at times) for most of my 33 years of marriage. Was never thin as a teen and was "hefty" at 165 at 5'6"/largeboned when I was. All I did for exercise then was riding a 10 speed and heavy yardwork at home with my mother. It kept me pretty fit despite a messup diet. (rarely ate and would the wrong things when I did)

Staying determined and motivated is the same for both. I learned this the hard way after being 245 for so many years. Tried all sorts of fad diets with no results. Figured life was always against me losing any of the pounds. Finally at 50, I just plain got sick and tired of being this way. Losing flexibility, could not sleep on my back, getting out of the car and moving around was getting harder. Took a good look at all the older snowbirds hobbling around with age related injuries caused by bad diets and lack of exercise. Seeing myself in them if I continued down the smoother road.

No way, got good and motivated. Took a year's worth of a college Women's Strength classes (lifting)....changed my diet to a better one and started losing some bodyfat and inches. Found I liked lifting weights and the empowerment it gave me as a woman who can be strong, mentally and physically. Lost 62lbs of bodyfat and gain abit of muscle this way. Finally got down to premarriage clothes sizes, feel alot better and got my flexibility back. Better health overall too. I am 175lbs now and LIKE myself.

Took me all those years to learn a few simple things...as hard as that sounds. You have youth and if nothing else...remember this:

"Mind only knows what lies near the heart;
It alone knows the depths of the soul;
Nor worse ill assails the wise than to be
Without inner peace." (Havamal, Poetic Edda, Viking Age)

That which does not kill us,
Makes us stronger.

So stay determined, learn patience, keep motivated and give yourself time. You have the last one.....now go take the first three to heart. Come here for encouragement and advice. Go look through the web and educate yourself. Find out all those "Female myths" about lifting (or other good hard execise) is just that. Trash.

Stick with it and you will achieve your goal.

I am 16, and it took me two months of trying and failing to finally get things right. I started to try to diet in January of this year but failed. Finally on March 24th of this year, something sparked in my system, and I started again. I was eating better and decided to exercise 4-5 days a week..it came as a shock to me when I realised 'whoa...I have actually been faithful to this diet for a week! *gasp*' The way I see it, if you can resist and start be faithful for a week, then you can certainly do it for as long as you plan to. I am going to have been on my diet 2 months in 6 more days. I never thought I could pull through. It is insanely difficult to stop eating all the things your friends are eating, but just remember you aren't doing this for anyone else but yourself. I have already lost about 12-14lbs somewhere in that range. I am 5'1 and started at 153. I am a calorie counter. Good luck! :wave:

tallgirl, im 17 and i have used to have the same problem a few years ago and you have to cut down on stuff like pop, candy, and whatever other bad things you eat, like if you eat it everyday cut it down to every other day then to twice a week then once a week and so on until you will rarely have a craving for that stuff. If you try to stop all together it will make you want it more. Also, tell yourself you are sexy, try to get your confidence back, it may be hard, but stress might make you want those bad things more, hope this helps.

hey~ i'm a diet now..and it's been for more than a month..and i'm proud of myself! i tried so many times before that..and always ending up "oh..i can start dieting tomorrow"..and then..tomorrow..tomorrow..then it became like 2 month later~ to start my diet.. i stop buying groceries (that DOES NOT MEAN STOP EATING)~ back then..whenever i go to the groceries i spend nearly 100 buckz on food~ but of course it usually last for about a week! now..what i do is..i go out and buy what i need for today! 1) i get exercise by walking 2) i dont' get a whole lot of food~ what i eat now is a tortilla rolled up with lettuce and tomatoes ..add a bit of salad dressing~ sometimes adding a half a hard boil egg or some tuna~ i eat that twice a day..and drink lots of water. i'm actually pretty satisfied..and don't get too hungry~ of course when you first start your diet, you get hungry easier..but i think it's important that you are a "little" bit hungry..so you can shrink your stomach and won't intake as much food as before~ personally..i go on diet pills too..but you are only 15~ it's easier for you to lose weight ;) and you are still growing.. so don't starve yourself! :nono: cutting back from junk food is the hardest probably~ If i were you..i wouldn't completely cut back from junk food~ i'd probably just count the calories. Lets say you are going to take 1100 cal each day~ this bag of chips is 120cal per serving~ Just to satisfy my "want"..i would probably eat on serving of this..and cut back on the calories of other stuff..just so that i won't go over the calorie count! but BEWARE!! chips and junks are addicting!! Usually when i diet with my friends..each of us bring a pack of fruits or some kind of low-cal food~ and when we sit togather..we will share the food :) when you are in school..it's easier to have a friend dieting with you because you guys will watch out for each other ^^ when you are home..try to stop yourself from going to the kitchen! (because i live outside..i always keep the kitchen free of junk food)~ Maybe you can talk to you mom about buying some low-fat stuff~ such as low-fat dressing on your salad or something~ it helps you when other people know that you are dieting because they will watch out for you~ like stopping you from eating the ice-cream that you have on your hand! When you eat..DON'T THINK THAT YOU HAVE TO FINISH ALL THE FOOD THAT'S IN FRONT OF YOU~ haha..a lot of people think that they should finish all the food that's in their plate~ either you take the right amount of food that you are going to be able to finish..or WASTE a little!

try drinking diet? and exercise. just do it. put signs on your fridge saying NO..or eat a banana...or just tell your parents to just stop buying pop. I found that the best solution when i wanted to get rid of the sweets. Just don't buy it.

Cut off the sodas and salty foods, drink lots of water, and NO CANDY.
If you eat rice cut it out too.
Cut out fast foods.
Drink A LOT of water.
Exercise half hour everyday.
Eat healthy and only until you are satisfied, not full where you can't get up from the chair.
And don't give up.
