I just received a call today from my gyn stating that he had the results from my pap. My last pap, last October, showed mild dysplasia and the results from the one I had 3 weeks ago showed severe dysplasia - MILD TO SEVERE IN 7 MONTHS?!?!?!?!?! W-T-F? I don't understand how?! I've been taking such good care of myself since last October, eating right, vitamins, the whole shebang. I feel like crying!

W H Y M E ?!?!?!?!?!?!? What did I EVER do to deserve to have to go through this crap!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

When I went in for the last pap in October 2003, I had quit smoking the month before, was eating right, taking vitamins every day, even making an effort to exercise (which really is an effort, considering my daily schedule). I was honestly expecting it to stay the same or even be moderate, but to have my gyn call me this morning and say severe and it's spreading fast is just a COMPLETE shock to me - I WANT A CIGARETTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got really teary - eyed when I was talking to him, not because it was a shock to be abnormal (I knew it was coming back abnormal) but to hear the words "severe", "spreading fast" & "surgery as soon as possible"; I just wasn't prepared for that! I'm still not.

Kim i had a clear pap in March 02. I had a severe pap in August 02. In Sept 02 I had a laser conization. This past summer 03 my dysplasia came back, first as mild then grew to moderate by November/December. I got my second procedure in February, which was a cryo-therapy.
HPV is a virus and can progress at different rates in diferent people. I would make sure you have your Doctor give you an HPV sub type test which will confirm what type of HPV you have, as some spread faster. Like with me, I have HPV 16 which is known to cause cancer, It doesnt mean that I will get cancer, it just means that I need to be watched closely. You may have a type that causes dysplasa only. There are about 18 types and I beleive subtypes 16 and 18 cause cancer. ANyway, regardless of what type you have, its a virus and it reacts differently with different peoples bodies. As long as the doc removes the cells, you will always be fine!! So please dont worry!!!! Its just a virus. You are in good hands and the doctor will take care of you. CHeer up! :)

IT'S JUST A MAJOR PAIN IN THE REAR!!! I just want to be "normal" and not have to go through this! I tell you, if I'm still alive when a vaccine comes out, I will be the first in line and my daughter will be second! I NEVER want her to have to go through this hell!

Just wanted to say my pap in october came back mild dysplasia and it was repeated in March showing severe dysplasia. I too asked how could this happen in 5 months! The nurse said having a baby can screw with your body and makeit progress more quickly but who knows.

Check this out...I went from normal pap to severe dysplasia (confirmed w/ colpo and biopsy) in 12 months. Then, I waited about 5 months and had a conization. Here's the weird part, my pathology report came back MILD dysplasia! So, basically, I did the reverse of what you did. This is one strange virus. I'm right there in line with you on the vax!
