When you found out you definitely had OCD did you find it a bit overwhelming?
I've had some dysfunctional things happen to me during my lifetime. I'm now 21 and was diagnosed with OCD not quite 2 months ago, now that I've realized that I have this, I've accepted it and tried to move on...I found some journal entries today and as I was reading through them I recalled so many things OCD related that I did as a child its overwhelming to me. I've realized there's things that I told my mom that 99% of children do not, I had ritual prayers at bedtime, I was SO scared of the dark, death, ghosts and sometimes these things would NOT get out of my mind when I was a kid. I also started sexual obsessions when I was YOUNG. I had my first sexual-like dream when I was 5 years old. SCARY! I obsessed over that for a longggg time. I had rituals as a child that I was pretty sure other children didn't have but I did them anyway. This ritual is quite embarassing to share I must say...
If you did become a bit overwhelmed by finding this out how did you deal with it?

OCD isnt all that difficult to recover from, antidepressant meds often help and books on overcoming OCD have useful advice
we can think everyone else must have OCD also for a while

Depends on the severity I would say... it can be quite a beast to conquer, requires a lot of time and courage... but it can be done! I would just say it is a challenge at times. And it's true, OCD is an extreme form of thoughts and/or habits most people share.
