Hello..

Im an 18 year old female,a little bit overweigh but in good shape and I think I may be have low blood sugar.Ive read about it and I definately have all the symptoms.I plan on going to the doctor in a few days and I was just wondering how he will test me for it.

Also, will I have to take medicine every day?

I,m just guessing on the test, but he will probably ***** your finger to take a blood test to see where your blood sugar numbers are. There is no medicine for hypoglycemia, you have to eat frquent smaller meals so your sugars don,t get too low.

Hypoglycemia (as opposed to hyperglycemia, or diabetes) cannot usually be diagnosed with a fingerstick blood test. It's diagnosed through a glucose tolerance test (usually a 3-5 hour test).

There is no medication, that I know of, for hypoglycemia, but there are dietary guidelines to follow that make it less of a problem. A high-protein, moderately low carbohydrate diet reduces the symptoms dramatically.
