I don't know if this is right for this forum...
Three years ago (9/11, I kid you not), a vein in my leg "popped" (doctor's word)--I had this big dark red spot, almost a perfect oval, sort of above and to the side of my knee. The doctor was fascinated by it and all but said it'd turn gray and yellow and stuff and go away and to call her if I had more problems and she'd check me for a bleeding disorder. (It did go away but didn't turn gray--it faded from one side to the other.)
The spot that burst has been sore ever since, and I often feel a slight soreness or pressure in it, especially sitting. Well, a couple months ago, it or a different one (not sure) popped. I had a large black spot on the back of my thigh. Maybe it was the same one and it leaked the other way, which is why it was black, or maybe it was a different vein. Who can say?
So I went to the doctor yesterday. Fortunately, my ankle troubles were thought to be tendinitis. As for the rest of me, they sucked a ton of blood out to test for blood disorders (clotting, I guess), and she wants to do an ultrasound of the vein to see if there's a clot. I'm waiting on the results of those blood tests.
I know I'll find out something soon, but of course, it's on my mind. It all seems very odd to me. I can see where sitting a lot, smoking, and the Pill would have caused a clot, but at the same time, I'm 28 now (29 in August) and almost 25 (almost 26) when it first happened. That seems young to be having issues like that, even with those risk factors. And I can't fathom why it's popped. Everything I see on clots says they stay there, sometimes causing hardness or red skin, and then can travel elsewhere. But nowhere do I see anything about the vein actually rupturing from it. So I find that odd. I hadn't had these problems before and don't have them anywhere else, so an actual disorder seems unlikely.
Any thoughts?
