I have just taken my first 10mg Lexapro. This has been a big day for me to have even gone to the doctor to deal with my life. He handed me these pills. I looked around for awhile and and read up on these SSRIs. Then I took one. I've felt pretty bad for what seems like forever. I'm 28 and I'm sick of being down almost daily. I also smoke marijuana pretty often. If anyone has any information or experience with lexapro I'd like to hear. Thanx.

hey there
i am very similiar to your situation... although ive been taking meds for almost 3 yrs now, , im also a heavy smoker. i started on paxil, went up to 30 mg, didnt like the side effects, so i went onto lexapro this past february. taing 30mg, im feeling quite well, needing it mostly for my anxiety and pmdd(pre menstrual dysphoric disorder) . i havent had any unpleasant side effects, but the only thing i dont like about it is that i dont feel as though it is strong enough sometimes. due to this, i may try taking zoloft, since my therapist recommended . i feel okay most of the time, but when aunt flo comes around, i feel mad as hell.
by the way, im a doors fan too.

I have to tell you that you should quit the pot smoking.
I have been a chronic pot smoker for 16 years.
I just had to quit cold turkey...cause it causes my depression to be worse in the long run. It's a great temporary fix ..but it really doesn't help you..and i've come to believe it may be one of the main things that cause my Anxiety/depression.I still cant believe i quit....but i did...I feel way more happier without it.It also caused me great stress trying to afford my habbit.
Not meaning to preach...but think about it.

I have not tried Lexapro, but I wish you the best of luck in your recovery. What do you think of the medication so far?

I began using Lexapro around the time it came out, it's been over a year ago. Lexapro worked really well. After about a week and a half, I stated feeling better about myself and within a month, I felt 100% better. After about 3 months of taking Lexapro under Dr supervision, I stopped taking it, and haven't falling back into my fits of depression since. I think it's the best anti-depressent out there right now. Good luck with everything. Keep posting, tell us how you're doing.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't know what to expect i guess. I mean, i don't expect a quick change at all. I realize that. But I feel kinda jittery and haven't slept well. I didn't expect that. The pot helps with that but i know that I need to be getting off that too. Thanks to everyone. Joe.

Greetings from Gustav,
I should be a poster child for LEXAPRO. Or maybe do ads for it. "Hi! My name is Gustav and I have been on LEXAPRO for 6 weeks. It is a wonderful anti-depressant with mild side affects. Night sweats and jaw clenching were there in a minor way at the start but they resolved quickly and were gone 3 weeks later. No other side affects. My chronic major depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder are gone. I started at 10mg when my family doctor prescribed it and a psychiatrist moved the dose up to 20mg to do away with the OCD. My wife and kids enjoy the new me! And it is as though a dark cloud has been lifted from my mind for the first time in over 30 years!
I love you LEXAPRO!!"
And then a voice over would say something like:
"Side affects may include sexual dysfunction. Loss of libido and ejaculatory delay may be a concern. Talk with your doctor if this becomes a problem."
This is really my experience with LEXAPRO. Hope it is helpful. Peace all.
