Hi,
I went in for my annual pap 2 months ago and came back with low grade squamous intraepitheal lesions. I went back in a month later for a colopscopy and came back with CIN II/III. My doctor referred me to see a gyno oncologist since i'm only 24 years old. He did another pap and an ECC, the pap came back with CIN II/III and the ECC with squamous metaplasia. Right now i'm waiting for a call back to decide when to do the leep. I'm scared. I dont' really want a leep, but i don't want cancer either. I haven't had children yet. I won't for a couple more years. I just want things to work out. I'm so sick of going to the ob/gyn every month and getting tests done. But I know this will be going on for at least a couple of more months. I just want the tests to come back normal. Do you think this will all be ok? will a leep not hurt my fertility?

About 2 months ago I had low grade lesions found on my cervix, after doing a colopscopy they found CIN II/III, and my dr referred me to see an oncologist. The oncologist did another pap and everything and found low grade lesions. So he now says he recommends getting the leep, but he also said because i'm young (24)/ never been pregnant, and there is a small risk of infertility, instead of the leep I can wait for 3 months and he'll do a biospy and pap all over again. I don't know what i should do. What do you guys think? YOu all see so helpful.

Have him do the HPV sub-type test to see what sort of HPV you have . If its the kind that causes cancer- (there are a few different strains of the virus- and some dont cause cancer- some do) then i suggest you get the leep done asap. This way, its out of your body. This procedure will not harm your fertility as all. MAYBE it will leave your cervix too lose or too tight but if trying to get pregnant you will just be watched more closesly thats all. Maybe the doctor will put a stitch there to hold in place if you develop stenosis (too lose condition). But definitely get the procedure. NOt rying to scare you but if you have the bad type of hpv do you want the rick of it growing into cancer? Also, the leep can be a very conservative procedure. They can take a little off and if its not enough you can get it done again. Good luck!!
