Here's my story. Last year (April '03) I got a chronic infection that was painful for months and I had to take a lot of antibiotics. After a few months everything was fine. In early December the infection came back, so I had 3 more rounds of antibiotics and was given Lortab(hydrocodone) for pain. I took the Lortab 2-3-4 times a day for about 2 weeks. During that time I started feeling Kind of an electric current sensation on the top back part of my head. I stopped taking the Lortab and started getting this pressure feeling on the right side of my head above my ear. I thought it was a cold, but it didn't go away. A week later I went on a road trip and my head just about exploded from horrible pressure all the way around. I went to the ER and they did blood tests & CTscan, all ok, and sent me home with tension headaches. I've never had problems with headaches before, so I was a little suprised. I started to feel generally ill, chronic sore throat, chills, and then I got the fatigue. I mean can't even sit up type of fatigue. My arms and legs were soon going asleep and tingly, my headache persisted, and my shoulder and neck are horribly knotted up. I've been to the Doc 1000 times and he has dismissed me as crazy. I tried massage, physical therapy, and muscle relaxers. I started to get seriously depressed a few weeks ago, so I was given Paxil, but chose to double the welbutrin I had been on for years. I went to another Doc for a 2nd opinion, he was very thurough and ran several blood & urine tests which came back normal except for an antibody to Parvovirus B19. I have apparently recently had an accute infection of Parvovirus, which might explain some symptoms, but he had me get an MRI on my brain, neck & spine to be sure. I'll hear the results in 2 days, but think they'll be normal. Could all of this be anxiety? I don't think I am under high stress, but being ill for so long is tearing me apart. I was so happy before, but now I can hardly think some times. My interests are fading and I fear that my marriage will suffer greatly. Is it anxiety? PLease help me!

I have the same thing. It includes tension in neck and head sometimes at the top of my head. There is more then likely nothing wrong with you. If you focus on your head and the pain for a long enough time your body will tense up that part of your body producing tension pain and headache.

I have this problem as well. Whenever I'm really stressed out, worried or mad about something, the back of my head, neck, and throat tighten up. I found that just ignoring the pain and focusing on other things really helps it go away

So you guys think it is stress/anxiety related? It's so strange that it's only on the right side of my body, but I guess that's where I carry my stress. Any ideas what meds to try? Thank you very much for your replies!

stress can be directed to any part of your body. If you focus all of your anxiety and tension to your feet they will also begin to tense up. Anxiety and stress is wierd it can manifest itself in weird ways.

Yes...sounds like Anxiety to me.Welbutrin won't work for anxiety ...only depression.Go see your doc...I would stay away from Paxil though.Ask for something else.
