Hi guys, i know i have posted on the site about my issues regarding whether it is ocd or i am truly not in love with my boyfriend. can anyone comment on their experiences with this? i just feel like maybe its not ocd. even though my therapist says it is. but i mean someone who isnt in love with someone may feel these similar feelings of sadness and guilt. my boyfriend is wonderful. supportive and i cant think of anything else or anyoen else i would want or how he could possibley have this negative effect on me. im just constantly wondering if i love him when we are together, and the guilt kills me. please, i am so down today. any talk would be helpful. i d ont want to make a mistake and break up with him.

Hi Flossie22,
Love is a very special thing. When you and him are apart, do you wonder what he is doing, or wish he is by your side holding you tight? First off, if he is accepting you and the OCD, then you have a very good guy already..... there was a time when my gf was asking the same question to herself as you are here, but I have found supporting my gf who has the OCD has helped her find that backdoor to knowing if it's really a love, or if it is OCD messing with her. I believe that you do love him, and the OCD is trying to play w/ your mind.

yeah thats the thing, i always want to talk to him and i miss him when he is not there . the thought of us breaking up is heartbreaking, but i dont know if thats just because when you end any relationship, its painful. its just hard for me to believe something like love could cause ocd. thank you for your reply... the support is so helpful. sometimes i just feel like it clouds the passion and excitement i could feel. how did your girlfriend deal with it. ???

Hello Again Flossie22,
OCD is known as the doubting disease. If in your heart feels that the feeling of not being with him hurts, then true love is there, but the key is here not to use what your mind is feeling (the OCD) bout you caring for him. My gf still has lil points to this day that I truely care for her as she feels in her heart for me. I truely believe that you deeply passionately love him in your heart, and in your own personal way. OCD is trying to play w/ your mind, but OCD also make you have lots of false thoughts. I see this everytime that she is having moments of doubt bout some of the things we discuss.
She knows in her heart, body and soul that I love her unconditionally, and that nothing OCD can dish out will EVER make that love go away. She and I have discussed if she could picture her and I together far down the line in the future happy, then it's real love to her.
I will say a prayer for you to find that backdoor to your heart that OCD will not be able to enter, to find your true feelings you are seeking to find. As always, God Bless You Always!!!
