Hi! I have been having hairloss for a couple of years so I went for an endo visit. She tested my am cortisol and it came back at 4.5. I had my stim test which was okay, but my baseline cortisol(8 am) was only a 6 this time. Could this still be addisons? I am always tired and cold. My thyroid tests all are normal. Is hairloss also a symptom of adrenal dysfunction? Thanks for any help anyone might have. I am sorry you are all going through this. It seems like it is horrrible thing to deal with.

You need to get on hydrocortisone before you adrenals give out. You need to get a 24 hour salavia test and know for sure what your cortisol leves are during the day. Don't wait too late.

Thanks for your replies. My stim test went from a 6 to 20.6 for the 30 min draw and the 60 min draw was a 23.5. I will post my thyroid test results on the thyroid board. I have to go in for another am cortisol test and if that is low, then I will have an MRI of the pituitary. This is driving me nuts! Thanks again for all of your help. You all seem to know more than my endo!

Chris, Thanks for your help. The big jump in cortisol had my endo stumped too. Is it possible that my am peak cortisol is not around the usual 8 am time frame? I am really confused about all of these test results. Going by the stim test I am fine, but my am cortisol tells a different story. Any other ideas? Thanks again.

Chris, Thanks for all of your imput. If this is the beginning stages of adrenal failure, is there anything I could do to prevent or prolong it? Also do you know if hairloss is one of the symptoms? Thanks!

Chris,
Could it be that his went up so much because the problem is with ACTH instead of the actual cortisol? Maybe his ACTH was low but once they injected him with it, of coarse his cortisol went up...I think that is part of my problem, low ACTH.
