HI, I am a 20 year old college kid who recently went to the doctor and found out I had slightly elevated liver enzymes(dont know exact numbers) I was wondering does this mean I have hepatitis c? I use to take a dietary supplement called xenadrine for about a year. I got the blood work done about month after I stopped taking it. My doctor thinks my liver damage has to do with the pills. I dont do drugs and never have. I have only had 3 sexual partners in my life and used condoms with all of them. I dont have any fatique or any symptoms like that but I have anxiety so I always think I have hep c. Please help.

A blood test is the only way to know for sure, and it beats worrying all the time.

you mentioned being a college student. do you know all the chemicals you are exposed to fairly regularly? are you in chemistry labs?

Liver enzymes just indicate that something is not OK. Hep C is just one of many reasons (the worse one). Definitely, blood test is the only way how to find it out.

You almost certianly do not. However, the test for hep c is quick and cheap and any doc or health clinic can draw the blood and send it to the lab for your peace of mind. Elevated liver panel numbers do NOT help to diagnose the presence or absence of hep c.

Go get tested. And I believe you should relax.

Now for the bad news. Ephedrine is scary stuff, especially if taken for months and months, and liver damage is only one risk. Stop it. You'll not regret it.
