Hi
Is there anyone out there who can help with this problem? My daughter who has bi-polar takes sodium valproate (eplilum). This is what the med is called in Australia at least. She has been on it for about 2 months and her hair has become thinner. I know that there are lots of people who have had this problem. Anyone out there who has a solution that has worked? Your advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks

I believe the same medication here in the US is Depakote and yes hair loss is a side effect of that medication. Do not worry, it usually is temporary. Has your daughter had her drug level been tested in her blood to make sure the range is normal? I have been taking Depakote for more than two years and I have periodic hair loss whenever I have to increase the dosage of medication. My hair has always grown back in.

Good luck!
P
