Well today was the day. I already had an upper plate but today I got all my bottom teeth out and my immediate lower denture put in. A few questions: how long does the swelling and bleeding usually last? At the moment I'm not feeling much pain because I'm still numb and he gave me tylenol 3 but from what I can tell I love the look of them!!!

Hi Krikin! Congratulations! Hope you are doing well. I had all mine, lower and upper pulled on 30 March. The best I can remember the bleeding was almost all the way stopped by the 2nd day. At the time, we didn't think my face was swollen at all. But, between loosing weight, and the swelling, it became obvious after a week that I HAD been slightly swollen, because me face became thinner and thinner.
As far as the pain, I had my teeth surgically removed and NEVER had any pain (at the most slight discomfort). I took my pain meds seriously, and then on the third or so day I let more and more time go in-between doses. I had thought all along that the medicine was working great. I came to the idea that I wasn't really HAVING pain. I was so surprised, I expected some :) SUFFICE it to say, I was glad to prove myself wrong. You take care, hope all goes okay. Rember, no straws or spitting!!

Thanks Dely
Just looked into the mirror and my bottom half of my face looks strange and I wasn't sure if it was the teeth that was making my face kind of stick out
around my lower lip and below or if it was the swelling. It's only been six hours since I had them pulled and I didn't have an oral surgeon - he pulled my nine teeth the old fashioned way and so I am hoping it is just the swelling. I've been putting ice on all day so hopefully in a couple of days I will look like myself because I sure don't at the moment. I appreciate any responses because I don't know what is "normal" and you guys have been through it!!
