Hi,
Anyone with PCOS and/or type 2 diabetes that can recommend a book that you found to be very helpful? My 12 yr old daughter was diagnosed with PCOS about a month ago and "early" type 2 diabetes today. I'm finding that there is so much information available, it's overwhelming! I also posted on the diabetes thread.
Thanks
Cris

Hello Gavman,
First off I would just like to mention along with books there are some really great web sites about PCOS. I have been doing alot of recearch because I beleive that is what I have. Some books you might find helpful are: PCOS: The hidden Epidemic by Dr. Samuel Thatcher or PCOS: A womans guide written by a woman with this disease. I hope things work out for the best! Did her doctor stick her on b/c?

Check out info on Estrogen Dominance, the underlying condition that may contribute to PCOS. Dr John Lee addresses this in his book, What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Pre-menopause. While your daughter is clearly NOT in pre-menopause, the info on ED is very illuminating (and can be caused by the presence of xenoestrogenic compounds in the environment around us). You can probably find the book in your local library.
Good luck!

Thank you alleycat and csoar2004 for the book suggestions, I'll look for those!
And thank you Nutshell for the recommendation. Unfortunately, I believe we cannot post web addresses here and it was deleted before I saw it. But good suggestion. There is a lot of information at our finger tips! I've been doing a lot of research and trying to learn as much as I can.
