I have done a search on this forum and found no cases reported of this disease. I also know that this is a rare disease. Has anyone had or encountered this disease before? If so, please let me know how the disease was treated.
I have read the symptoms and believe I have this disease. I have also read various sources that site the treatment to be 2 different methods:
1. Scaling and root planing
2. Taking antibiotics
For obvious reasons, I would definitely like to use method 2. I am 22 and don't think that my gums are damaged much. I went to the dentist 5-6 months ago for general cleaning and wisdom teeth extractions, and the dentist told me I should floss more regularly. The dentist didn't mention that I needed scaling/root planing (so probably just a mild case of gingivitis). So the swollen gums and bleeding is probably from trench mouth and not from gingivitis/periodontitis.
Has anyone experienced treatment with method 2?
By the way, since many WW1 soldiers had this problem it wouldn't have been cost effective or efficient to treat all soldiers with method 1, so method 2 should have worked for most of them, right?
