Well it all started in Aug. 2003. I had an infected wisdom tooth that was removed with an emergency surgery because it got very infected. The dentist that did it just froze my mouth and took it out. He never gave me any antibiotics or set up a post-op to check if i was healing alright. Then in september i went to a surgeon(different person than the first, and still now can't locate this dentist and we never apid for any of the exstraction) to have my other 2 wisdom teeth taken out. It was much better i was asleep, big difference. That went fine and i seemed to be healing well. Then in October i started to have a bad pain in my lower left jaw. We did and x-ray and discovered that there was dead bone in my jaw. We went back in and cleaned it out and put me on more antibiotics. It seemed to work the in the end of december the pain came back again. We went back in and found more dead bone. We even packed the open cut with medicien twice. It seemed to be ok. Then again in march the pain came back even worse than before. We decided to do this surgery in the hospital. We gave me a dose of antibiotics through intravenus before and after surgery. I then also had picc line put in and was on antibiotic (high) doses 4 times a day for a month. We were hoping this would work but the pain is back again. My surgeon says that if this has not fixed the problem than the next step is to take out the bone and put in a metal plate in my jaw. I really wish there was another option. If anyone has any info please let me know or has heard of anything like this before

I know for TMJ the dentist makes a splint for you to wear on your boton teeth but if you are having jaw pain that might work.

Dear Sqiget, My daughter went thru this same ordeal 2 years ago. Her story can be found at http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/Forum39/HTML/001179.html There is alot of helpful information within this thread of hers, that people have replied to. There is also a woman named Randi, who has been dealing with osteomyelitis for 2 years now, who knows alot more about it then I do. Maybe she will see this post and reply to you or you could do a search of her username--tryingtofeelgood--for all her posts shes wrote on osteomyelitis. I know there are other options to try first, before having your jawbone removed. When they went inside and cleaned out your jawbone area, did they take cultures and have an infectious disease dr. determine which antibiotic would work best for you? I hope you receive the proper treatment needed to cure you of this. My daughter was very fortunate to have fully recovered from her ordeal with osteomyelitis. My prayers are with you. :)Cindy

Thank you for replying i have only gotten two including you. I just want this all to go away. I can't take it anymore. I have to stop school because of the picc line they said that i wasn't healthy enough to be there. I am suppose to start again in september but i want this to be fixed by then. It is comforting to know that i am not the only person to have had this problem. Though i wouldn't wish this on anyone. I just hate feeling so tired all the time. I can't take anymore antibiotics. I have been on them sine aug. 2003. It is just to much for my body to take. PLease can someone tell me what options i have???

I am desperate.
