This will be a little long. But a few months ago my husband was irritable and hostile and grouchy and just felt like he needed to "get away" from everyone. He was always a good, stable, reliable husband and father before. We have been married for 14 years.
Anyways, our family doctor said that it was depression and put him on Lexapro first 10 mgs and next upped to 20mgs.
Then after 5 or so months hubby started having the same symptoms again. Only worse. And he was having trouble ejaculating. So he went back to the doc and they added Wellbutrin with discontinuing Lexapro after stabilizing.
But my husband went off all the medications in about a week.
Of course then things really started happening. He started saying he needed to "get away".....so one day he left and would come by and see the kids for anywhere from 3 minutes to 1 hour a day. He seemed to get worse and worse. He was not hisself at all. He couldn't care less about me and the kids at all. He started telling me that he didn't have any feelings for me at all. And that he only loved me as the mother of his children.
He would get angry so fast. He would scream in my face to get out of his life. And that he didn't need me or anyone else. The only people he wanted was his kids.
But our boys...ages 9 and almost 14, could tell that he wasn't his self either.
My husband was sleeping in his truck for over 2 weeks. He bought a truck during this time. He also went 4 days without a shower. He only ate about once a day. He was going to work but I called his supervisor and also found out that his work was suffereing and that he was asking for days off and also for a leave of absence.
Well, finally last night he came to the house and showered and went out to eat with us. He seemed almost normal. Just felt like his temper was barely below surface. But he did kid around with me a little...like "cut-up" with me. But he still wouldn't let me touch him alot. Before he left he did let me get a couple of hugs from him which has been unusual.
He then left to go with a friend to do some work for a couple of days about 4-5 hours away from our home.
I've talked to him about 3 times since last night and seems a little more like his normal self.
I asked him this morning if he could tell me he loved me and he said "maybe one day".
Before he was telling me that it was "hopeless" and to "get out of his life" and says that he doesn't need medication or doctors.
What does this sound like to ya'll?
His supervisor told him to not come back to work until after he has seen a doctor so he has an appointment on Tuesday.
I would appreciate anything or any advice you might have or any experiences. I feel like the past few weeks have been a nightmare.
Thanks

Hi, lexapro and wellbutrin are antidepressant meds that often help with his problems but they can have side effects, its also very difficult to get someone to take meds if they dont want to
if he had a regular doctor, you could see him and ask for advice on what to do
