jill30 05-30-2004, 07:45 PM I always go to a tanning salon every summer. I would like to save money and only use a self tanner. Is there any good lotions out that would not make me look orange? Sponsor melly88888 05-30-2004, 09:33 PM Jamaica me tan is great. It was recommended to me on this site. You need to order it and can look it up online...I don't think I can give you the exact address due to the rules of the boards but do a google search. It's actually an airbrush tanning system...but you can buy the solution and use a spray bottle to put it on. It really is great. Read some of the previous posts about it. Hope this helps! :) jill30 06-01-2004, 08:10 AM I just bought neutragena's build a tan and it looks great. It is so natural looking and no streaks at all. Maci 06-01-2004, 10:19 AM My absolute favorite is Coppertone Effortless (also called Oil Free). It is a little hard to find but I did buy some last year at Walmart. I use medium for my face and dark for the rest of my body. It gives me really nice, natural looking color and also fades out nicely over about 5 days. Kayley 06-01-2004, 12:03 PM I have tried alot of self-tanners and my absolute favorite is the Clinique Mousse. It doesn't streak or smell bad. I just keep rubbing it in till it's dry, which doesn't take very long. I haven't had a problem with it staining my clothes and it's not a bad price either. I think it was about $12. I've gotten several applications out of it and still have alot left. It gives you a nice color too, that lasts awhile and fades gradually. Let me know if you try it and what you think. Good luck! Kayley ;) hilery79 06-02-2004, 09:01 PM My new hobby is experimenting with self tanners. :D Here are my reviews ;) My favorite drug store brand so far is Bain de Soleil-Radience Eternelle. It's the one with 2 compartments. It goes on very evenly and doesn't look orange at all. I also like Jamaica Me Tan. I put some of the solution in a spray bottle...spray it on...then rub it in with a velour sponge. It's a little expensive, but the color is very brown. It also fades well. I recently tried Fake Bake(it's the one that supposedly Britney Spears and J Lo use). I really liked the final results, but the color guide looked green and was very messy. Once I washed the cg off, it looked great. This one lasted the longest of any I've tried so far and faded like a real tan. I didn't like the new Maybelline ST. It has a really oily feel to it and turned me orange. I also didn't like Banana Boat-Deep Dark. It turned out kind of yellow on me. sidnee74 06-03-2004, 09:13 AM I just read some good reviews for estee lauder's Go Bronze. Anyone tried it?? Kayley 06-03-2004, 11:04 AM Hi there Sidnee! I tried Estee Lauder last year and I couldn't stand the smell so I took it back. I don't remember the name of the kind I bought but it came in a tube and it came out dark. I'm sticking with Clinique mousse, it's the best I've tried. ;) sidnee74 06-03-2004, 11:35 AM Ok, Kayley, thanks. How's your daughter? I used self tanners years ago but they were always smelly & streaky & orange. So I gave up and resigned myself to being pale. A couple years ago I started laying out regularly. Great for my tan but not so great for my skin. I've been laying out with a hat or something over my face, but was thinking maybe I should try the self tanner thing again. Remember in Victorian days when pale was "in", course we'd all be running around in corsets yuck! ;) Kayley 06-03-2004, 02:00 PM You're so funny Sidnee! Didn't you say you live in MO too? Which part do you live in? I'm near Kansas City. My daughter's hanging in there, thanks for asking! She's still got 4 weeks till her due date, though we think she's not going to go that long. It would be best if she could wait at least another week. So are you going to try the self tanner? Let me know how it goes when you try it. I don't want to go back to Victorian days because I can't live without my flatiron.LOL And corsets? No thanks! sidnee74 06-03-2004, 06:26 PM Hi again! Yes, i'm in Missouri - east of Springfield. I'm not sure about the self tanner. I remember the not-so pleasant smell they all seemed to have and the uneven fading. Many are tinted now so you can see where they go when you put them on, and that's helpful. How's the clinique measure up in those areas? I spent a little time out in the sun today. I know, not good, but i keep thinking if i protect my face i'll be ok. But i am starting to get more concerned about the aging thing because i hit the big 3-0 this summer. My father-in-law looks great at 51 even though he is a sunworshipper. I have my doubts about my skin holding up that well. I guess going back in time would be a bit drastic! I hope your daughter can hold out a little longer. It's hard because you're so anxious to see the baby but you know he/she is not quite ready. But with only four weeks to go, nowadays, that's no big deal. Is she still at home or in the hospital? You may have said, i forget ;). Keep us posted. Sid :) Kayley 06-03-2004, 06:53 PM I'm sorry, Sidnee. Now I remember you already told me you live near Springfield. Duh! Senior moment  The clinique self tanning mousse doesn't really have a smell at all that I can tell and it is tinted so you can see where it goes on. And it fades evenly too. I usually re-apply every three days or so. My daughter is still at home, on modified bed rest. She's supposed to lay down if she starts getting tired or having contractions. We've got a busy week ahead with my mom and sister and her family here. Then the baby shower is next Saturday. We wish we could have had it earlier but we wanted the people from out of town to be able to come. I hope she's not in the hospital during the shower. You're smart to protect your face from the sun. When's your big 3-0 birthday? Don't worry, the thirties are a great time in your life! Take care! Kayley ;) |
