I'm a heavy bleeder anyway but since April 4th I've been bleeding I went to two ob/gyns and the first was a real nut case told me to stop drinking pop take 4 calcium pills a day and I'd stop. The other was much more professional did blood work took a biopsy and I go the 2nd for an ultra sound. He did mention that my uterus was a bit enlarged about 10 cm. I'm not really sure what that means but it can't be good. Has any of you been threw anything like this. I'm 42 and I'm thinking about asking for a hysterectomy.

Hi - Actually I'm going thru this right now. I think I have bleed the entire month of May. My GYN thinks it may be due to the new BCP's I am on. I decided to go off of them for 7 days and then switch to a different pill, so we'll see. Are you having any cramps with the bleeding? I had a fibroid a fews months back that I had removed and it caused continuous bleeding and cramping. Isn't it a pain being a woman sometimes? I know it can be frustrating. The ultrasound should definitely tell what's going on there. Good luck.

I have an enlarged uterus as well. Mine is about the size of a 3-4 month pregnancy. I've had several biopsies; and one D & C to remove some benign polyps. I don't know why my uterus is enlarged, but I could have fibroids within the wall. My periods are heavy with clots for about a day and then it subsides. Periods last longer too. But, my doctor says I'm in perimenopause and at this point, hysterectomy isn't necessary unless I really want one. I'm turning 49 in a few months, so I'm just trying to wait it out. As far as your continuous bleeding, sounds as though you may have a hormonal problem too. Your doctor is doing all the right steps and I'm sure you'll get an answer soon. Try not to worry; an enlarged uterus is quite common.
