My friend's been having relationship problems with her mom, and we can't figure out the reason why her mom is acting like she is.
First off my friend's mom sounds to have some kind of obsessive behavior. For example: she can't look at a glass that has more than 3 ice cubes in it, books on tables make her nervous, the bottom two window blinds bothered her and she had to have them removed. My friend's closet is the neatest thing ever, however the other day her mom threw all the clothes on the bed and had her reorder them in the closet.
Her mom also gets mood swings very often throughout the day. Not from happy to depressed, but rather happy to upset with someone. One second she could be smiling at you and the other she'd just be yelling at you for no reason. Her husband suggessted anger management for her but she just got very angry at him. She's very indecisive, and gets headaches often (about 4 times a week).
Finally, they have 3 children, my friend being the youngest. Never ever will the mother yell at the oldest child, she is always happy with him. However she often gets upset at the other two, the youngest of which is my friend. And when she gets upset at my friend, she barely acknowledges her and gives her dirty looks. Tiny things like the closet being messy will set her off.
What should we do? Is she getting upset like this cause of her obsessive behavior, and will find the smallest problem and complain over it? Should she be getting therapy?

an antidepressant med seems to be indicated but first you have to get her to admit she has a problem
