hey everyone. I have had social anxiety and general anxiety for a few years now. I was on medicine about a year and a half ago but it kinda stopped working so i stopped taking it. well anyways, i have a wedding to go to with my boyfriend on friday and im so anxious. It's his friend getting married and i dont know anyone. Also, he is likely to leave me at the table or something by myself with people i dont know lol. I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to deal at this wedding? Im sure some have been through a similar experience. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

I suffer from anxiety and panic, and I was IN a wedding this past Friday. I was freaking out for the past few weeks, b/c I was afraid everyone was going to be staring at me, or that I was going to have an attack.
Guess what??? Nothing happened-I was so wrapped up in everything that had to be done to prepare, and then during the wedding, and the ceremony-I never thought about it :D And, ya know what? I had an awesome time :bouncing: I danced all night-never thought about my heart racing or shortness of breath. Just go, and have fun! I'm sure if you go with the right attitude, you'll be okay, and if you find before the reception that you are still freakin out, take a xanax or something to calm yourself down.
But, try to have fun-we can't live our lives sitting at home by ourselves!
Good Luck

Hi Moe, a large dose of any valium type med before and during the wedding will calm you and let you enjoy it

dont drink much and dont drive on the day

we can never predict how anxious or panicky we will be at these events but valium type meds are very good insurance and can be relied on

remember to stay relaxed, and dont tense up, also breathe deep and slow as this always helps calm you
