Sorry guys--I didn't mean to be corny with that title... Lol.
Anyways, has anybody ever used nair (or anything like it) to remove hair from the bikini line? I'm just wondering for the summer what my best option would be. I am far too scared to get it waxed so that is out of the question. I've shaved that region before, and it worked out okay but I'm afraid of getting it irritated in the summer if I do it too much? Anybody have any ideas??? Please respond!

Nair is about the same as shaving in terms of irritation, most of the irritation will be from hair growing back in again, however also with Nair it has a nasty habit of making you bleed a little from where the hair was growing when it is used on pubic hair.
It does work well to get rid of hair, but thats when it works, I have had a few occassions where it has not gotten rid of all the hair I wanted rid of, where there would be patches of hair that are almost like rubber - you can't shave that hair off when it is like rubber, ti is too soft and it is too likely to cause real irritation if you put more Nair on it, you can rub off the rubbery hair but really it is a messy job.
Shaving will be your best option, jsut make sure to keep the skin healthy - I wouldn't advice lotion or moisteriser after shaving that area, but aloe vera gel is good at keeping shaving rash at a minimum.

oh man.. don't do it
i tried once and had a terrible reaction... it burned and went really red and rashy
and i've used nair on other parts of my body with no problem, so it isn't just my skin
it even says on the bottle not to use it for that
they do make some specially for that.. but i found it was still a little irritating and didn't work that well
if shaving works ok for you (it doesn't for me.. the hair is too thick and dark and you can still see it right after i shave.. plus there's irritation) then stick to that i guess.. though chlorine will irritate freshly shaved skin

Thanks for the replies. I've decided to not bother with the Nair, and just shave it off. It worked for me last summer, and everything turned out okay--I was just wondering if something like Nair would be easier. It sounds like a lot of trouble! Thanks guys!!

I found that Nair is very irritating if used on the bikini line. Then from some suggestions on this board I started using this product called "Magic": in the stores it's labeled as a hair remover for Black men's beards so it's very gentle/mild. I don't find any irritation when used on bikini line, unless you leave it on for too long, I highly recommend it!!
Just like you I hate shaving and at least with this Magic stuff it lasts for at least 2 days.

I have not used nair but other cream depilatories (Nads is very gentle) and is the best thing for the bikini line. A lot better than shaving which always caused be breakouts and a horrid itch.
