The Neuro that did the w/c IME exam stated at the end of his paperwork that "It is also myu opinion that overall this patient is permanently and totally disabled and unable to perform any type of gainful employment now or in the foreseeable future." I had filed for ssi Jan 10, 2004. I faxed a copy of this exam to my case lady at ssi. Does anyone know if a letter from an Independent medical exam that states that would qualify me for ssi. Don't really know how they determine the final desicion.

Cheryl,

It will help to further prove your case with SSI, but I don't know how pivotal it will be for your decision.

Now, for W/C, that should seal the deal for your case.

What you have posted is the doctor's conclusion. SSA does not accept conclusions from a treating physician. This is because "disabled" is a legal concept defined by SSA, not by doctors. What is musch more important is the objective medical evidence, clinical findings, lab results, etc. that support the diagosis and the severity of the particular condition(s). So the letter itself may be helpful but only in conjunction with your ongoing labs, chart notes, etc. from your treating physician; especially as they speak to your limitations, physical and/or psychological.
