hello everyone, i guess i am the newbie here. i have a best-friend who is bi-polar and is on depakote. however, she often does not take her meds on choice and the effects are often apparent. alot of the people around her are not considerate of her condition and have made comments and actions towards her that have hurt her a great deal and sunken her into deep depressions. i try to be as considerate and as caring as i can be to her, and she has told me how she has appreciated it, but i often end up feeling like i am not doing enough to help her cause. she is so near and dear to my heart, i wish i could make her life easier and happier. so my question is: in what ways can i help my friend out and help her be happier with her life in general?

i thank you very very much,
everyone keep their chin up out there...you're not alone.

Well, you can just drop on by here anytime at all!!
You're officially no longer a newbie as far as we're concerned!

The best things you can do as a friend are:
Encourage her to take her meds
Accept her with all her moods when she doesn't take them (and don't take anything too much to heart)
Read all you can - the more educated you are the more you can help others understand.
Keep coming here - really!
