Hi everybody,
Today I tried for the first time ever to tan myself. I used the Lancome Flash Bronzer Mousse. i followed the instructions and all the tips I've read online and.... nothing! My legs are still white as a ghost... I don't know why... Can anyone give me a clue?
Thank you!!!

hey, you should definitely try the loreal garnier selftanner. either the spray or gel. i use the gel for my face and the spray for my body. it's really really awesome it looks so natural people always think tan is in my genes. except for the people who knew me before i used it they were like wow where did you go on vacation. not only does it give nice tan but cause of the vitamine E ingredient well at least i think thats it, my skin feels so smooth and moistorized afterwards. and it's not greasy so wouldn't be worrying about break outs either, i actually found my zits leaving but that could be cause of the colour camouflage. anyway, my face is all clear of zits when i've used it. if this brand works out for you, i mean lancone bronzer or something, then you could stick by that as well. the thing i always do before i tan myself is i take a nice bath and i scrub my face so it's all clear (cause the time i was too lazy to do that i ended up with brown/white spots on my face...awful) and i shave. then i put on the bronzer and wait for 10 or 20 minutes before i put the rest of my clothes on or it will just go off. maybe you should try doing this as well?
First, thank you so much for replying!!!
I did shave and scrub myself before the application... Could it be my skin can't react to selftan? I want to know the reason before I go out and s[end money on another product...

hmm.. well i think it's the proteins in your skin that get coloured or something i heard. so if you have little protein.. hmm i dont know maybe you should try again, or try using a test product or something maybe another brand will work on you.

It's possible that you are DHA-resistant - which means you need a higher concentration of DHA in the product in order for it to color your skin. Most over-the counter products only contain about 3-5% DHA. I use Jamiaca Me Tan 10% and get great color.
But the type of cleanser you use can make a difference, too. You don't want to use anything that leaves a film on your skin. A clear gel cleanser works well - something like the regular Bath & Body works line. Also, don't moisturize before tanning - the lotion can cause the tan to be lighter.

lancome is pretty expensive though, my product is half its price
Yes, it is expensive but we don't have many products where I live, just the big brands... and anyhow I wanted a known brand for my first time.
Well, after reading your answers I think it might be 'cuz I used a moisturizer just before I applied the tan...
Tomorrow I'll try again, hope this time it'll work!
Thank you so much!!! :)

Maybe the tanner didn't work because its old. The tanning properties of the lotion diminish wish age. I have some tanners in my closet from last summer and they don't work anymore.
You should try St. Tropez. Its the BEST I've ever tried. The coverage is great and its a nice tan, not orange at all. Get the cream/lotion rather than the mouse as you have to be adept and quick otherwise face tanned palms!!

A word of advice about tanning. Aim for gradual tanning rather than overnight bronzing because you run a higher risk of streaking. And do it at least 3 days before you go somewhere special because it takes about that long to remove mistakes. Also, St. Tropez brand has a tanner remover for if you make mistakes.
is there a site where i can order it online? with international shipping...?

Most self-tanners have a shelf-life of at least a year - but then, you have no way of knowing how long the store has had the product. Some STs even come with an expiration date.
