I did this at home perm straightner thing a week ago.
It came out horribly wrong and completely damaged my hair. My hair feels like its been severly burned and when i wet it, it feels rubbery.
I have tried to do hot oil treatments, intense conditioning, and nothing works and it is really starting to depress me. Is there anyway to reverse the perm? or is there anything else i can do to get my healthy hair back?

I've done this a few times in my life and so I know you feel horrible right now. Not to worry. I bought something at the drugstore call "Kolestrol". It's only about $4.00 but it's better than any other expensive stuff I've tried. I also had to get it cut. I know you won't want to do this but at least an inch or so will make a huge differences. There's no salvaging the ends but to keep them from splitting all the way up the shaft, it's best to do. Good luck and remember it's temporary.

Well its already a little under my shoulders..but i guess you gotta do what you gotta do right? But i have another question. What exactly will this "Kolestrol" do? Because my hair is severly burnt, from root to ends.

It's just a deep conditioner that has been around forever. It's much cheaper than glopping on the more expensive products (which I've also tried in your predicament and which didn't work as well).

Hair that is "damaged" won't repair since it's been changed chemically. But, products can give the damaged hair support. Kolesterol is a moisturising conditioner...also get one that is of protein. It will help replace what the perm completely broke down.

I would suggest you cut your hair as short as you can stand.....at least half the damaged length off. Preserving something that can give you grief for 2 years seems a waste of time.

The damage is done, start anew...who knows, you may feel utter joy and relief at not having to nurse something that will be impossible to bring back to life.

I did it to myself once with a perm on bleached hair using the wrong (on purpose because I didn't have anything else) product. I got a chemical haircut out of the deal. Definitely, I should have known better since I' m a hairstylist.

But, experience speaks louder than others' words.

Now, you have experience.

Let us know what happens.

did you use the kolestrol thing yet, then?
by the way, if your hair is just past your shoulders, i would get a hair cut. about as long as sharon osbournes, i would say! the same thing happened to my aunt. the hair cut helped, alot!! only shampoo about twice a wek with something VERY moisturising (try the one from redken with avocado oil), but condition like 3/4 times a week. try coconut/almond/ANY OTHER NUT (or olive. . . LoL!) oil shampoos&conditioners. it should get better. . . and use a deep conditioner about twice a week.
Also, for more tips/help you should have a conversation with your hair-dresser about it!

hope i helped
