I was prescribed Seroquel and am afraid to take it. I was prescribed Depakote and am afraid to take that too. I understand that everyone is different and that everyone tolerates certain medications differently. If anyone can tell me how they've reacted to both and/or if either one helped them, I'd really appreciate it.

im on 1250 mg depakote, and 800mg seroquel. I got a rash that lasted for about 10 days but wasnt too bad, just enough to be annoying. ever since i went from 600mg to 800mg of the seroqurel ive had swelling in my feet and legs, but i started taking the depakote through the day rather then all at once, its gotten better some. Thats about it, other then the seroquel making me tired, which im sure its supposed to anyways
Good luck

I am on 1500 mg of Depakote and have been for several years. It works wonderfully for me. I was on Seroquel - 100 mgs. I quite taking it over 2 weeks ago because I had 14 of the rare side effects. I have been feeling absolutely awful for over a month. Bone achiness, muscle soreness, muscle fatigue, joint soreness, bladder infection, acne, liver imflammation, just to name a few. I do not recommend Seroquel but, your Dr probably knows best. I'm not for sure if the illness is due to Seroquel but, it started after I began the med. Seroquel did help me sleep and that was good. Last night was the first good nights rest I've had in at least a month.

Hi! I've been on both seroquel and depakote. I took seroquel for a couple years and never had a problem with it... i liked it and i suffered from no horrible side effects. Actually it had the least amount of side effects than any other medication I have taken. Depakote I was on for atleast a year. It was great, did the job. I was happy on these meds until my hair started falling out. I casually mentioned this to my psych doc and he took me off the depakote because there is a slight chance it will make your hair fall out. Its a slight chance but it happened to me and it was awful... but the depakote worked while i was on it and i had no complaints until i lost my hair. i ended up going off the seroquel at the same time cause the doc want to change my entire cocktail and i'm still trying to find one that works (for me) as well as depakote, seroquel and the couple others i was on. goodluck in finding the right med for you!

Thanks everyone for your replies. It helps to get perspectives of people actually taking the stuff. I talked with my Dr. and I don't want to take more medicine than is necessary so I'm going to try the depakote and see what happens. Hopefully it'll do the trick.
