I have a small growth or bump on the flap of skin, or just behind, in my throat before my tonsils. It is about the size of a pea. It appears to be the same color as all other tissue in my throat. I've just noticed it in the past two days. Should I be concerned? Should I see a specialist? It isn't very painful but more aggrivating. When my throat is dry it is causing me to want to cough.

I have the same thing from what you describe. I had it checked and was told that it was a lymph swelling and this can happen and it is harmless. Mine shrinks over the winter when I don't have many allergies. In the summer, the lump appears to expand. I have had it for a year. That is my story. Maybe, your's is similar.

I've had the same thing since I can remember. All my life it seems like as far as I can remember.
It is right on my tonsil and is a little smaller than a pea. It is a healthy pink color the same as my skin in my throat. It doesn't hurt and doesn't bother me at all. I don't even know its there. I can't count how many visits to the doctor I've had and they check my throat with every checkup and my doctor has never said anything to me about it so I assume its harmless.
I always wondered what it was too.

I have a couple of these but mine are smaller than a pea and mine are more flat. It seems that they have multiplied recently. They are not sore and do not bother me. I have had strep throat and pharaxitis so many times, once I had strep 3 times in 4 months. I just always assumed it was scars or some how related. I've never had a doctor mention them. If you do have it checked out let us know.
