Ok today I am going to my dermatologist. I originally was just going for a follow up on my acne treatment as I recently started breaking out after having flawless skin. My mom noticed though that I have a very dark mole on my back, it is not the kind that sticks out but its somewhat large (about the roundness of a pencil eraser maybe a little less) and another one less dark lower on my back. I have two smaller moles that stick out, one just below and to my left of the belly button and another under my armpit. They are somewhat dark too, my mother is putting alot of fear into me saying I could have melanoma (sp) or something and need them checked right away. She wants them removed regardless and so do I. I never really wore sun screen all the time. Do I have anything to worry about with these moles. And when removing them what is the procedure, does it hurt, and will my skin heal back to look like the rest of it?? I am squeemish and just stitches scare the crap out of me. Could somebody shed some light on all of this. I apologize if I am not clear one everything, I am a little nervous, and very clueless. Thanks for anyhelp.

Hi...I'm not a Dr or any thing..but I doubt if it is anything....I have moles like that on my back as well...if there is no bleeding or changes in them its probably nothing...but you can ask your dermo just to be put your mind at ease!
Best of Luck!

Have the Dermatologist check them. Moles are generally of no concern as long as they don't change shape or color. Since they are on your back, you may not know this. You will feel better after he looks at them.
