Does anyone know how I can grow more hair? I want fuller and thicker hair covering my scalp and crown. Is there certain shampoo I can use or some or food/vitamins I can eat? I want some hair coming down towards my forhead too so I can have some bangs. Right now, all I have is thin and flat hair and I would do anything to have more hair growing. Please help!

Genetically you're predisposed to have how much/how thick of hair you have and there isn't any type of food, vitamin,or herb you can take to change that. You could try talking to a hair dresser about getting perminate wavy hair.My hair is very thin and not a lot of it but it looks thicker to everyone else because of how wavy it is.I guess it gives it volume instead of looking flat.

I'm sorry, not to sound rude, but how can you tell someone that there is absolutely nothing they can do to improve their thin hair condition? Maybe you don't personally know of any but that certainly does not mean there isn't! Unfotunatley I'm not here to give any answers, though I am looking, but I have a hard time when people tell others there is absolutely nothing they can do. Tifa, I'm in the same boat as you are sweetie, and if I find or hear of anything that really helps with this particualar subject I will let you know.

Well if anyone knows the miracle to growing fuller, thicker hair i would love to know as well, but from what i stated that is what i have i been told, food, vitamins, and herbs can't change genetics.I offered the only advice i know of to help, getting a wave to add volume.I'm sure there are shampoos out there that makes hair appear thicker.

Actually, what you eat does make a difference. Hair is protein - so make sure you are eating plenty. It makes a big difference for me. Also, many women taking prenatal vitamins (when they are pg) notice their hair growing faster. Mine does. I also take fish oil supplements - for other reasons, but they may be helpful for hair growth too. Now if your thin hair is because of genetic reasons, these may not be miracle cures but it certainly won't hurt to try. Yesterday I was watching QVC and Nick Chavez was on with a product called Plump n Thick (or something like that). It made thin hair appear thicker and fuller, even on a man who had receding hairline/balding spots. I haven't tried it, but it sure looked like it works. I believe it was $28 for a 2 step system. Good Luck!

Hey again. I remembered another poster on this board mentioned she had been using camellia oil on her hair. It was helping with not only the condition of her hair but she also that it was making it grow faster. Just wanted to mention that.

What about Rogaine and those type of products? Maybe those would help???
My parents use Nioxin Shampoo & Conditioner and it was recommended by their stylist and b/c my dad was a heart patient. Heart medicine can cause your hair to thin and this shampoo has helped him, but you'll have to find it at a salon.
You can always invest in some extensions as a lot of girls do these days! Just look at all the celebrities that use them!
Funny story (part of it) My cousin had all grey hair. He had to go into chemotherapy for cancer and when his hair came back...it came back red! That is the color it was when he was young! I don't think it was thicker or anything, but it's still kind of neat :)

If your thinner and flatter hair is a new phenomenon, it may be because starting in your mid-late 20's, your hair will usually begin to lose some of it's thickness and fullness. I'm not happy about this because I'm 22 and am satisfied with how my hair looks. I don't want it to be any thinner! I've heard that prenatal vitamins will help with growth - not sure about thickness, though at a long hair board I visit, a few women are very happy with the results they've gotten from taking prenatals. I've actually heard that if you are of childbearing age and not on birth control, you should take prenatals so you'll have enough iron and folic acid to support a baby. I've been taking mine for about a month, and haven't noticed much of a change in my hair's consistency - I've heard it can take a few months.

I have heard that you are even genetically predisposed to how long it will grow. It's funny though. Research may suggest that you can't make your hair grow faster, but I sure notice a difference when I drink protein shakes or eat lots of protein and take certain vitamins. Like the second article posted by falynsmommy said, your hair growth may slow due to certain things like poor diet & medication. So, if you improve your diet, your hair could grow faster. Maybe not faster than it normally should, but faster than it currently is.

Hi!
I have had fine, thin hair my entire life thanks to genetics. So does my sister, and so did my mother and grandmother. It's just a fact of life in my family!
However, I have found a product mentioned earlier that helps with the look of my hair. It does make it "look" thicker and this product is Nick Chavez's hair care products found on QVC. I've been using them for a long time and hate to think what my hair would look like without them. His products not only add thickness to my hair but also body which is something I never had. I know all products don't work for all people but for me Nick's is the best. I've tried all the salon ones: Matrix, Amplify, Big Sexy Hair, Redkin, Rusk you name it. And nothing has done as well.
Also, I've been reading some really good things about Rogaine. It's just that once you start to use it, you must continue to use it or else your hair reverts back to its previous state. I thought about trying it before but when I discovered Nick's line I just never pursued it. I can't "get" thick hair but I'm happy with the ability to "look" like I have it!
Hope this helps! Linda :D

Has this personally worked for you? And if so, what kind of changes did you experience? I guess I'll have to do an internet search and read up on this. Thanks for the info.

I have thin hair -- here's how I make it thick and huge. I'm not touching any discussion on genetics, blah blah blah. It's thin, here's what helps for me and I swear by these products, I've tried everything and always come back to these.
I use a hair dryer, and then use Paul Mitchell Freeze and Shine Hairspray.
Good luck everyone.

I have been telling people for years to use pre natal vitamins because when I noticed my thin fine hair change was when I was pregnet, so I assumed it was the pre natals. I never thought it was due to hormone change. Gee I almost feel guilty now.
Darn Linda I knew if anyone here tried Nicks products it would be you, you are our
QVC tester! Lol. I watch him when he is on and say oh gee she has a huge head of hair and it looks like nothing but he will mess it up spray stuff on and it will look like huge hair. LOL Now, I am thinking maybe it does work cause I believe you as a user. I have thick hair on top but not the sides ever in my whole life! Kinda like waiting for wings, they never grew, (sigh) and my hair was always the worst of two genes cause my mom had beautiful long thick hair, and my dad had nice hair but fine.
So if you could buy one thing from him what would it be? Is that a tuffie or what? Here we go again!!!haha

Cyndee, Linda, where do you guys purchase these hair products? I doubt you can get them over the counter right? I have also heard of Nioxin and I emailed the company that was selling it on their website and they said it is good for me because Im 16 so its not that extreme. I have also heard wonders about the formula called Power Plus but Im not sure if it really works. On the site, theres a picture of a practically bald man but after using it, I must say he has grown alot but of course we know pictures can be manipulated. I was wondering if anyone has tried Power Plus or Nioxin before?
Im trying to stay on a very healthy diet with vitamins and all. I guess thats the best I can do for my hair.

Tifa: I buy my products at any salon or hair product shop in the mall -- in Wisconsin, we have Trade Secret or Salon Source. I've also started with Rogaine and am starting a high protein diet. Good luck to you.

Sunshine! Here we go again is right!
I laughed so hard when I saw your post! I even showed it to my husband and he cracked up! I appreciate the faith you have in me as a "tester" - ha! Just remember everyone is different! LOL!
Yep, you gave me a "tuffie" alright! One product that I like the best - Hmmmm.... I guess I would have to say the Plump N Thick Shampoo. It's excellent. But you know I can't just leave it at that LOL! The Leave-In Thickening Creme is awesome too! This would be my next choice, almost my first choice. And the Leave-In Thickening Mist with collagen is awesome! See, I can't just pick one darn product! LOL! I usually buy the kits that have everything in them. I've noticed they'll sell out on TV but then if you go to the website, sometimes you can get them there. Go figure!
Anyway, hope this helps! I gotta go try out my XL Glider that just came from QVC - ha! ha! ha! My hubbie just put it together. Can't do much in the way of exercising, but this is low impact and I'm gonna take it real slow. Take care, my friend! Linda :D :D :D

Hey guys, I looked up Nick's products and there was a whole lot. I mean, there were tons! Can you tell me which one you used/or using that gave you the best results so I can look into that and make my purchase. Theres just too much to choose from. Thanks.
