I was diagnosed with HCV genotype 2B in 2000. I went through the treatment in 2002 and tested undetected in July of that year. I have been undetected ever since.
I just started dating a guy who has genotype 1 (A or B). He is not undergoing treatment, on the advice of his doctor. I am absolutely TERRIFIED of getting it from him (through kissing as well as sex). After everything I've been through, I don't want to get it again...especially not such an untreatable version of it.
Do I have reason to be this afraid? Is there any chance at all that it can be passed through kissing, oral, or protected sex?

I contracted Hep C in 1967 but did not know it until just a year ago. I have been married to the same man since 1970. He has no trace of ever being in contact with the Hep C. Virus.
If an infected person's blood, even if only a trace enters through broken skin of another person the virus can be spread. You know what your friend has. That does not make him any more dangerous than the next person you have no idea what they have if anything. It is always wise to take precautions.

After reading what you wrote I can understand how scared you must be. Maybe, because you experienced what treatment is like may make the fear even higher.
I read a post from someone one time about dating w/HepC and they brought up the topic about dating your own type 1/2/3. I guess there is now dating services that are for HepC singles..with issues that you mentioned.
Good luck... I have been married for the past 8 yrs and thank God my husband has not contracted this virus same goes for my children..

Hi,
you say that your boy has hepatitis A or B? Compared to Hep. C, this is
1) much easier to cure, but
2) much easier to contract!
I think, you should get all the details of the dignose of your friend or discuss it with his doc. As far as I know, vaccine against this kind of hepatitis exists (unfortunately not against hep C) and might be a solution.

If you have not already get the Hep A&B Vaccine.
My wife & I both did the Twinrix combo 3 shot series.
You take One shot, one more a month after the first one & one 5 months after the second shot piece of cake no problems & it's less shots than doing the A&B seperately. You may have to educate your doctor mine had no clue what twinrix was.
