I have a bad perm that is about over a year old. I am trying to straiten my hair. I have tried numerous things to straiten it, but it doesn't hold very long. My hair is also thick. So it looks puffy when done. Is there any good products, flat iron or techniques that I can do to achieve great strait hair?

If not is there a way I can do it curly that will acutally look decent! I can't just leave my hair natural cause its really frizzy but oily on top and not all parts of hair is strait!

Thanks!

Have you tried a ceramic flat iron? I have naturally curly hair and I've had mine for about a month and it makes it so silky and straight. What I do is clip my hair up, and let it down a little at a time, flat ironing little sections. It's like a dream come true for me! I bought the chi, but my sister bought one at Sally's for about $40 and she likes it. Also, using Biosilk Silk Therapy before flat ironing helps prevent damage. Good luck!

I would suggest asking somebody as Toni and Guy that question. They do FREE counseltations there. What you can do is use a condition after you shampoo your hair. Then blow dry it straight with a brush. Use the brush tightly to straighten your hair as your blow dry it in the directions that look best for you. Warning Do not comb it while blow drying. You must latch the comb on tight into a chunk of your hair and blow dry it straight as you move the comb threw the hair which will feel like you are yanking out or pulling hair. You hair will not fall out unless you are violent with the comb. But you can always ask somebody at a salon do teach you how to do it. Also after that if you want to get a ceramic straightening iron that would be a great idea. Those are very good but use a heat protecting solution or spray on your hair before .....but you need to ASK the people at the salon or products store for advice about the solutions. Some may be TOO greasy or too oily. So becareful. Good luck with your hair. IT does take patience so don't be too hard on yourself.

Hey.. hair masks could make your hair a whole lot softer and smoother, so it will be very pretty, not necessarily straight though. I've got pretty bad hair, but after i washed my hair and had a hair mask in it looks always so pretty and smooth. My favourite hair mask is Garnier Fructis INNOVATION. It's not so expensive but if you want a cheaper mask that works fine as well, I used to use Dove and I liked that one as well. The hair masks cost around 4 or 5 Euros which is 3 or 4 US Dollars, I think. Dove is maybe 1 Euro cheaper. I think there's enough in a bottle to use it 20 times or so, or more if you don't have a lot of hair. After you've used it your hair gets really easy, soft, smooth and flexible and for the final touch the next day when you're fixing your hair you should use two or three drops of Garnier Fructis ANTI-FRIZZ FORCE-CURE. Rub it in your hands and go with them through your hair. It's pretty oily, but you use so little your hair doesn't become greasy at all, trust me. If you use it every other day, I think there's enough in it to last a year. I've had mine since last year August and I use it twice a week or so, and I've used about 1/4th. It costs about the same price as the hair mask.
And if you really still do want straight hair, it will be easier to straighten when it's nice and soft, and it will look better/healthier as well.

What kind of flat iron do you use on your hair? If you really want to see a difference, it's worth investing in a ceramic iron. They are more expensive, but worth it. I use mine every day, also with a little Biosilk Silk Therapy. My hair has never looked so good! The key is gliding the iron down small sections at a time. I put all my hair up except a very thin bottom layer, then let it down layer by layer until I get to the top, then do any little minor touch-ups needed (usually to the front, where it's most damaged by the sun/bleach).

Try GHD ceramic straightners. They retail around £100. You could also try a hair treatment [the name excapes me] but they do it at Toni&Guy where your hair is permantly straightened and the effect lasts about 6 months.

Biosolk is a definite. I have very coarse curly hair and it helps. Use head and shoulders or a dandruff shampoo if you have a lot of oil because the Biosilk is very concentrated.

Check out Ulta's website and signup for their club...they will send you coupons and you can save up to 20% on a good ceramic flat iron. They always have sales on them too. As long as you use a product like Biosilk to protect from heat damage your hair will look great. Overuse with a brush can add to damage plus it takes much longer.

Well I got perm one year when 17 it look like crap and pay 60.00 dollars for it than the next day I straighten my hair with a iron which say iron burn your hair iron flat iron same thing. Probally flat iron best way but you dont want use it on your hair too much flat iron do make your hair straigher but they also damage your hair I dont really know anthing you could use on your hair but flat iron or go salon to get your hair straightner but not cheap. If your hair is straight how come perm still in your hair I think your hair would be staight by now weird . People that usually have nature curly hair or wavy hair straighen their hair with Flat iron do it too much make your hair look damage. You go salon to get your hair straighten. Or olive home straighening kit might work 8.00 at wal-mart .

I use a hot tools straighening iron turned up really high on the heat to like a 6 or 7 so that it works better. First i blowdry my hair so that it's dry, but i dont straighten it with the dryer cuz believe me that will take forever to do and also it's really hard to do yourself without having extra hands. Once i get it dry though i pin it up and taking small sections at a time i use the iron to straighten it. I also put in pureology superstraight serum first to make it extra smooth and it works really well! If you want to go curly though you should try the structuralizing cream by icon which you can buy in beauty supply stores. It will give your curls both shine and definition... just dont use to much or your hair will get crunchy. Then let it air dry. Hope i helped!!

Hey Beeb, I have naturally curly/frizzy hair. If i want to do it curly I usually wash and condition it, and then leave conditioner in it, and apply Finesse Touchables mousse to the roots of my hair. To do it straight I use a Chi ceramic iron, which works really well, I've never tried any others that work as well as this one, quite expensive but definitely worth it! As of a couple weeks ago my hair doesn't have any natural curl anymore. I went to a hairstylist and had it chemically straightened, which is also pricey but worth it! It lasts for a long time and when my roots start to grow out curly i can just iron it with the Chi which won't take long. If you are interested in going that route, definitely make sure you know the hairstylist has done other people's hair and maybe even has pictures of the outcome. Also make sure he/she will use a product that won't damage your hair. My stylist used the product by Chi :) Hope ya find a solution.I know it's hard to find products that actually work for curly/frizzy hair! :)

there are a lot of good solutions for you to look at. most of which have already been posted. what i would recomend would be to first get a trim, and get your ends off. this way the perm is cut out a little more. then i would get an intense conditioning treatment. if you can't go to a salon, do it your self. get some good conditioner, like Humectrus by Nexxus. then get 2 shower caps, and a wash cloth. when you do it, shampoo, and condition. comb hair, and then apply the deep conditioner like humectrus. put your hair in the shower cap. take the wash cloth and get it to be as hot as your hands can stand. wring it out, and place it on top of the shower cap. place 2 cap over the wash cloth. leave on for 20 minutes, rinse out. i would do this at least 1 a month if not more depending on dryness. to straighten, i would recomend a product by matrix called sleek look. it is a great product, and really works. use a big round bristle brush to straighten, then if you choose, use a straight iron. good luck!

I have curly and thick hair as well. I've tried all kinds of products and I finally found some that work great. If your looking to striaighten your hair temporarily Invest in a good ceramic flat iron. I paid about $150 for mine and its made by HAI. Ive bought ones at regular stores and Ive even bought ones at sally but they dont compare! I use sebatian laminates hair products, they are wonderful.
If your looking for a permanent solution try japanese hair straightening. I had it done about a year ago and its amazing. My hair wasnt even wavy afterwards. But your looking to pay alot if you do that. It cost me $500. Worth it though!
Hope this helps!! :D
