My husbands cousin just had major surgery. A 7 bypass on his heart. He had a massive heart attack and found out all of his arteries are almost completely blocked. He has been in critical condition the last week. His doctors have given him a 50/50 chance. He has ARDS and pneumonia and bleeding ulcers.
After his surgery he was doing great. They had him on a ventilator to breathe for him for a day after the surgery then took him off. Since he got pneumonia they had to intubate him again. He begged them not to but they had no choice.
If feel so terrible, I don't know what to say or what to do?
Has anyone ever had to be on a ventilator to breathe for them in the hospital? Is it really that awful? My fear is suffocating and to think of a tube stuck down my throat I don't know if I could handle it either.
Do they really stick the tube all the way to your windpipe or just to the back of your throat? What does it feel like?
I am going to pray for my husbands cousin.
