Kidney dr says 24 hour urine test shows high calcium level, which may be causing my stones. But I eat almost nothing with calcium and take no calcium supplements? He want to put me on some sort of calcium reduction drug. Any ideas where this extra calcium is coming fom?

My friend had high levels of calcium and the parathyroid (not the thyroid) was out of whack which required surgery.

Besides from diet and drugs exces calcium can come from lowered excretion in kidney (kidney disease, maybe inherited) or excess retrival from bones (higher level of parathormon - disease of parathyroid glands). These are maybe two major causes.
Before accepting drugs, I think you should get a precise description of stones and exact diagnosis (more precise like my words). Maybe you have it already, you can ask your doctor.

Blood calcium level is also important.

kidney stones can come about when you consume too much protein, which leaches calcium from the rest of your body and can lead to masses of unabsorbed calcium(stones) in your organs i.e. kidneys, gallbladder... (protein and calcium compete for absorption). so it may not be that you are getting too much calcium, but rather that you have too much protein in your diet and so your calcium uptake is poor. this may or may not be the case with you, but i thought i'd mention it as a possibility
