Hi! I was diagnosed with genital warts in 1984 (due to husband!!!). We used some kind of cream and they went away. Now, in the past two weeks I have been developing warts on my armpits, and then yesterday I realized I also had genital warts again and itchy rectum (sorry, this is sooooo embarrassing). After 20 years, is it possible to have this happening again??????? Should I be concerned about possible cervical cancer in the future? I had a normal pap test two months ago.

Thanks for your help!

Nothing to be embarassed about. HPV can recurr, though it is rare for them to appear in the armpits. This might also be something different. I suggest seeing a dermatologist for treatment.

Lady, genital warts is nothing to be ashamed about. 80% of the sexually active population carries a strand of HPV. It sounds to me like you have the wart form of hpv on your genitals. Or were you also diagnosed with cervical HPV too? If you only have the warts on your genital area, then you have no need to worry about the cervical part, unless you have cervical hpv. Understand so far? There are hundreds of strands of hpv. Warts can reoccur. HPV is a virus and there is no way to get rid of it. All your body can do is suppress it but it can reoccur months or even years later. If you have any questions please feel free to ask! Best wishes to you

 Hi and thanks to those who have replied to my posting. I have since seen my doctor  and have received medication. It is not cervical warts so I guess I am lucky so far! I really appreciate the time you each took to answer my questions.

Thanks!
