Has anyone given vaginal birth while having herpes? I am due in 6 weeks and I want to have her naturally and not c-section!

Yes, I have. I had had one Caesarean, with my 3rd child, because I had my primary ob right before I went into labor. Then I had my 4th child not only naturally, but at home with a midwife, as I had had the first two. Absolutely no complications. The midwives checked me and listened to me and were very supportive. They said that they had had lots of women with herpes give birth naturally, and no child had ever contracted it--and they've been in business over 40 years now. They have, however, had clients like me with my 3rd who had to go to the hospital for a C-section because they had an outbreak occur. Boy, is the natural childbirth 100x better! But if you do have an ob, try to take it in stride: you still get your sweet baby! (I did not take it in stride and cried a lot. Silly me. Now, 14 years later, it matters not at all.)

If your dr is not supportive, change drs. There are many who will be.

And so have I. I've given birth naturally to two children while having genital herpes. The doctors put me on suppressive acyclovir for my last month and all went well. Good luck!!
