my son is 26 months old and for awhile now he has been saying his penis hurts. he wont let anyone touch it, like to wash it in the tub or even when we change his diaper. we have taken himn to the doctor numerous times and they have checked for uti's and all that, and he never has anythign wrong. but he absolutely flips and cries and hits. he hasnt been abused in anyway, whats going on here? is it just that hes aware of it now and doesnt want anyone near it or what? im starting to get worried and docs arent helping

Hey, I think I have some good news for you. My oldest had this same problem and I jumped to some horrid conclusions that caused me much stress and found out that his penis hurt because he was sensitive to soap! My husband told me that he had the same problem when he was little. I quit using soap on it and made sure it was rinsed well and usually showered him and it quit within a week.

What a relief! Try ditching the soap and see if it's a soap sensitivity and let me know! Good luck

i bet angel is right, this happened to my little brother....even the gentlest soap can irritate a childs genitals

Hello, I hope you're not putting diaper ointment or diaper rash ointment on it. That stuff can burn. That stuff is only for the butt and not the privates. Privates only need to be gently wiped. :nono:

alright, jake had a dr. appt yesterday to get his preschool physical and i had the doctor look at his penis (( for like, the 20th time )) and he found that the base of it was really swollen. the doc gave us some bactroban and zinc oxide to put on it and also some anti biotics just in case. he said he didnt know what it was but that it was "weird" my husband was looking at it the other night and he just kept saying that something wasnt right. im so irritated tho because i was looking at my sons medical records and found at least 4 different occasions where i told the doctor about jake complaining about his penis hurting and once we even took him to the ER for it and nothing was ever done..it was like they just blew it off. whatever it is, i hope the medicines help it. just thought id give you all an update
