I have the kind of type 2 that has "the dawn effect" where while sleeping, the liver produces glucose leading to high fasting level on arising. It has been treated with Novalin N intermediate type, 45 units shot at bedtime. I also take 2 glipizide before break. and dinner. I have been getting up with BS high in am, then it gradually goes down all day. Have a dr apt soon, and I think I am going to need to change my approach. I've heard of the other types of insulin that are taken during the day etc, but don't know anything about them, or how the shot/testing/eating regimens are structured. Would appreciate any info that I could learn about what might be the next phase of treatment for me, or web sites about different types of insulin. Been Type 2 for 10 years, on the insulin for about 3 1/2, so far no complications, thank heavens.
