Does anyone know which herbs interfere with lithium...? I want to do a herbalife cleanse, but not sure. Please let me know!!! Thanks!

The main problem I have is that I can't find WHAT herbs are in the Herbalife cleanse on any of the websites I tried.
The other concern is that it is VERY important to stay hydrated while on lithium, and if this cleanse is designed to empty your digestive system that would be alot of liquid lost.
You'd have to be sure to drink plenty of fluids while you were on this - and once again, I don't know what the herbs are that in this cleanse so I can't help you there...
Someone else??

I drink lots of water anyway--so I am good in that area. Thanks for the concern...My friend is a distributor. Here are some ingredients of the herbalife cleanse-21 day: valerian root, hesperida, horsetail, grapefruit bioflavnoids, red clover, fenugreek, slippery elm, tong kuei, catalase, and milk thistle. Hmmm Any comments!!?? Thanks sooo much!!!! :D

These two might cause a problem, also any that mention "energy" can work against the balancing properties of the lithium. Best to check with a doctor first when one's mental health is at stake!!

valerian root = has diuretic properties (fluid loss)
horsetail = has diuretic properties (fluid loss)

I get so confused when it comes to finding supplements. There are soooo many interactions with supplements and drugs--and I really want to find something to increase my energy. Thank you so much for taking time to write back! I appreciate that!

Hope I haven't hogged this thread because if anyone has anything helpful to add I know Soar needs to hear from you!
I take a multivitamin a day on top of my Lithium and that's about it!!
Is it a med do you think that is causing your energy slump?
Or a degree of depression?

One simple thing that has helped me is to act like I'm my own mother and give myself a set "bedtime".
Regular sleep, balanced meals, (they say caffeine is bad for bipolars but hey, they can't take my cup of coffee away!)
The problem is always what stimulant will aggravate a possible manic time, and whether the ingredients will dehydrate us leading to Lithium toxicity..
aaaaaargh!
(Thanks for putting up with me!)
