Hi to all,
I've had hypertension ( inherited), since I was in my 20's. I only needed to start on BP pills about 10 years ago, when I was in my 40's. Now I find that when my alternative MD added in some super B's, my BP shot up, even when I increased my BP meds. He claims it is due to his super complete formulation of all of the B's that gets the adrenals working, so he suggesteed I stop his high ocatane version and just switch to a regular health food store brand. I've done this and the BP went down again.
I've been using Cortef recently for fatigue and we are starting out very low so as not to upset the BP. I started at only 2.5 mg at brekafast and then when I added another 2.5 at lunch, the old BP is going up again. The Cortef does give me energy. Is it possible that although I've been feeling so miserable, I may just need a low dose in the AM, along with the pregnenolone, progestereone, DHEA, super C, and other vitamins to get my body going again? My doc has me on the lowest doseages of other hormones and he thinks that a synergistic effect is more beneficial than just using the Cortef .. at least, in my case. I suppose there are diversities of needs for Cortef and it seems that if I increase mine just a tad, it causes my system to send out more other stuff, like thyroid hormone and that may also be increasing my BP. I was hoping that since I finally got the Rx for Cortef, I'd take it 3 x a day and feel better and better. It's discouraging to have my BP to contend with. I will talk with the doc's office in a few days to see what he says. Any one have a similar problem with their BP? Maybe I just need to inch up very, very slowly. I like the fact that my energy shoed improvment, my anxiety was better and my cognitive ability was starting to return....so I do not want to give up on the Cortef. ( My MD does plan to use this regime as a temporary measure until my energy returns to normal and then wean me off. He seems to think it is related to the phsyical stress of menopause, compounded by some heavy duty emotional stress over recent years.)
Thanks, friends. :)
