I am 16 years old. I was completly paralyzed October 5, 2002. I woke up with extreme pain in the back of my neck, and started losing motor function and sensation rapidly starting with my arms, then breathing, untill finally i was completly paralyzed.[descending] I was flown to Childrens Hospital in Boston where they conducted several MRI's that revealed swelling at the base of my brain, affecting my cerebellum. I remained in the ICU for six weeks while they conducted numerous tests including two spinal taps. Everything was normal and conditions like Guillian Barre and Transverse Militas[pardon my spelling] were ruled out. However I have diabetes and the Bacillus Cereus bacteria was found in my blood, also I had a bad case of poison ivy. These were all dismissed as causes. I am now in recovery and have regained some function. Any ideas to what may have caused my injury?
