i have for the past several years had occassional palpitation/fluttering sensations in my heart. today, however, i have begun to have one every 7 minutes or so for the past 3 hours. though they feel significant they are not accompanied by any dizziness or shortness of breath. I have visited a doctor in the past and he told me most likely they are harmless. should i worry? especially at this moment when I have had 3 while typing this. thanks and i hope to hear from soemone soon.

Most doctors say that these symptoms alone are not to worry about. If you don't ahve pain or dizziness then it's probably just pvc's. One thing that I have learned over the years though is that if my condition feels worse than normal or increses, it is usually a good idea to let a doctor check me out. It is better to have them say "go home and don't worry" then to find it's something that could have been lessened with treatment.

Jaime,
When I had to go for my 1st test with my cardio he asked if I ever had palpitations. I told him yes and he was surprised I never got them ck'd out and asked why. I told him, because I thought everybody got them. So, it seems to me, that even though most are harmless (I have many diff types of palps/arrhythmias caught by monitors), it is a good idea to get them ck'd out.
One online cardio from Cleveland Clinic told me when my palps lasted 45 mins. or so, I should've had it ck'd out.
You might want to ask for a holter monitor.
Good luck

hi jaime, i've had these heart palpitations (pvc's) for about 15 years now. Just for your own peace of mind you should have a full cardiac workup. If that is normal which it most likely will be then pay attention to triggers, like alcohol, sugar, even beans and other gas causing foods... if you still get them (also make sure to take magnesium and potassium supplements) then you can take medication. I take propranolol and 20 mg's stops them completely for me for seven hours and I take this on an as needed basis. They are annoying but harmless. Good luck!
