Turbo Altezza 06-09-2004, 11:36 PM im not sure what is involved but i want to know be4 i go. im a male and im going to planned parrent hood for my test, i would also like to know what they do if your a female. Ornament 06-10-2004, 10:04 AM Turbo - My test was done by my ob-gyn, @ my first ob. It was swab test, actually scraping the blisters, extracting fluid and sending it to a lab to be cultured. Ob-gyn doc, called me a week later and said it was positive for h. I'm not sure what type. I didn't ask him any questions, at the time, because I couldn't even breathe. I was very surprised because mine didn't look like any of the herpes online photos. 1st. ob was the worst and now it's a frequent (9ob's in 9mo.) but, just 2 bumps and a stinging, pinching, burning sensation. I think it can be diagnosed thru a blood test as well. Hopefully, other posters will respond for you with more info. Hope this helps, -Ornament outinthesticks 06-10-2004, 08:57 PM My test was the same as Ornaments, they swabbed the blister with a q tip and sent it off to the lab. A week later they called with my test results. If you aren't having an outbreak, I think they'll do a blood draw and test for antibodies, but it won't be accurate unless you've had herpes for Several months. It takes a while for the antibodies to build up in your bloodstream. Turbo Altezza 06-14-2004, 02:27 PM well i just talked to planned parent hood and they told me that its a blood test, i am still on an "outbreak" but its only been a bit longer then a month so is the blood test going to be worthless |
