Yesterday I ordered some samples from Aromaleigh and they should be here within the week. :) I love getting stuff in the mail! Anyway, back to the point--what Aromaleigh products do you find superior?
I ordered 2 samples of the Pure Powder (in 2 colors), a sample of Pure Cover (my mom is interested in trying it out), Pure Drama loose mineral eyeliner samples (in drama violet and drama topaz), and a color wash (for lips/cheeks) in Mesa. I read on the website that most customers prefer to do a custom blend of 50% pure powder and 50% pure cover. Any of you get this custom blend? Just curious about some of your experiences with Aromaleigh.

I use a custom blend, but I mix it myself - that way I can adjust the color to match my skin at the time (I self-tan year round, but go lighter in the winter).
You will LOVE the drama eyeliners!! My favorites are Drama Teal, Drama Violet, & Drama Cocoa.
I am a HUGE colorwash fan - I only wish they came in tubes so that I didn't have to carry a lipbrush - but I still love them! My favorite colors are Angel, Petal, Dolce, Sateen, & Nutmeg. Berry & Shiraz are really nice, too. Apollo, Luna, & Patina are really nice for changing the colors a bit.
Other products I can't live without (and there are others that I really like, too) -
- Lavender Mandarin cleanser
- Microdermabrasion cream
- Satin Petals eyeshadows in Marigold, Foxglove, Campanula, & Coriander (all the colors are beautiful - I have a full set of samples)
- baby kabuki brush
- nectarine coquille
- Charm lipgloss
- Eye Synergy serum
- Frost eyeshadow in Damask
- Midsummer Night's Dream eyeshadow in M*****, Nymph, Hermia, Flora (Elfin is nice, too)
- Carolina Summer eyeshadow in Catteleya & Bouganvillea
- Pure Hues in Fox & Suede
- FRS serum
- Madeleine fragrance
I also have TONS of other products, so if you have questions about something in particular, I can probably answer them, LOL!

Hi,
I recently ordered some Aromaleigh samples, as well. Hopefully, I'll get them in the mail tomorrow(they were supposed to get here today). :)
I ordered a sample jar of the Pure Cover, a sample of the Pure Powder and a flocked sponge. There were so many colors to choose from...I had no idea what color to order. I ended up getting light-warm(2).
I can't wait to try it! I've heard a lot of good things about this brand. I'll let you know how it turns out. :)

Yeah Hilery tell me how you like the samples. :)
And Blue-eyedBelle, wow I'm really looking forward to the eyeliners now! I love eyeliner. Great idea about blending your own colors. I will definitely ask you any questions that I have about the products. :)
Mesa wasn't my first choice for the colorwash since the website is repackaging the colorwashes so they were running a 50% off sale on the remaining ones (in the old packages). Mesa looked the most appealing from the ones available but if I like the formula but not the color then I will definitely go back and find a prettier color when they have the new ones in stock.
I was surprised to learn that the prices are actually pretty decent! The shipping cost was the only thing that bugged me, but shipping price is kinda high for just about everything though.
How many applications will I get out of one of the sample baggies?

The sample baggies of foundation will probably last for 4-7 days depending upon how much you use. They also offer sample jars which will last about 2-3 weeks.

Hi Ladies!
I use AL too. I use the Pure Cover, the mattifying primer and the finishing powder. I also LOVE their eyeshadows! They are gorgeous. Although I've been using just the PC in 2W, I'm thinking about trying the 50/50 blend. I do need a bit of heavier coverage so that's why I went with the PC originally. I really like the way it covers without making your pores look enlarged or cause any dry patches. I had that problem with BE. And living in Florida, this makeup stays on thru hot, dry days without me having to retouch it up. I like the colorwashes also and even the blush in Rosewood. It's real pretty.
Now you guys have me curious about the eyeliners! Guess I better try some of them now! I'll be curious as to what your opinions are of the liners when you get them. Take care, Linda :D

Ok here you all are. I just posted above about my introduction to Forever Mineral
and man I can't believe how it covers and stays.
I am not sure if they are all the same but guess not from conversations I am reading. But I only used one to cover my face. You all sound like your putting several layers on? I am waiting on a concealer for the spots on the side of my face.
Well I don't want to cut in on your Al, just that I love the concept of this
mineral make up.
Someone mentioned larger pores which I have only used mine two days. Infact I don't even know if she carries eye shadows I never even asked.
But what are the differences in this if anyone knows.
I like what I have, no I love it but actually know nothing of it. Well you can read my comments in my post.
But would like to know more of negatives with any mineral products as I am a newbie with it but love mine. Thanks :)

Several layers? No. I'm not sure why you thought that, but I only apply the foundation & then sometimes a finishing powder mix.

Well I guess I read it here Blue even Linda said she uses three applications if you read her post, so I guess that is where I saw it. Like I said I am totally in the dark with this and I started using Forever Minerals and I love it.
I notice they took her addy off the site I posted and she doesn't have a web site yet. But I pulled it off here.
Well what is it that makes your pores larger as someone stated? I suppose they are all different just as makeup is. I am just trying to find out more about the products since I am so new to it Blueeyed. Like you all did in the begining when you were first buying it.

I see what you mean, sunshine, but those 3 products are not all for coverage - which is what I thought you meant since you said *I only use one to cover my face*. The mattifying primer consists of a tiny, tiny amount (think a light shaking of a salt shaker) applied to absorb oil - it's not for coverage & isn't necessary for everyone. Likewise, the finishing powder that linda is referring to is an optional choice & just provides a slightly shimmery finish. The only item needed for coverage is the foundation itself. Sorry if I misunderstood you. I thought you meant people were applying 3 layers of the foundation to get coverage.
Some of the mineral companies use a shiny mica & bismuth oxychloride (also shiny) to make their powders. In some individuals, this can cause pores to look even larger. So those people generally prefer a matte product like Aromaleigh, Geografx, or Botany 101.
The reason the website & email addy were removed is that it is against teh posting policies to list those types of things. If you got your info from here, it was probably before one of the moderators had a chance to edit the post.

You all sound like your putting several layers on?
Even though I haven't noticed anyone mention it in this thread, gradually layering the powder foundation to achieve the desired coverage is recommended instead of putting a single, thicker layer on...at least from the Aromaleigh website:
"Apply the powder to your face. Some like to apply in circles, some glide it on in long strokes. Even if you’re shooting for maximum coverage, remember that several light layers are better than one thick one"
Is this the kind of thing you were referring to, Sunshine12?

I can see where the confusion was. Yes, I use three different products and like Blue said they're for three different reasons. I have combination skin where my T-zone is a bit oily so I use the mattifying primer to help that. It only takes a tiny, tiny bit around the nose and forehead. Then I put the foundation on and yes, as Surreal mentioned, I would rather put the foundation on in thin layers rather than one thick layer. Then I finish off my makeup with a small amount of the finishing powder. It gives a "softening" effect which I really like. That's it.
Not everyone needs the different products I use. This formula just works really well for me and my particular skin issues.
Sunshine - I found out about the Forever Minerals too! I was wondering if anyone has tried them. So you like them so far? Let me know what you think about the products: details, details, details please! Thanks! Linda :D

I have just got the samples from aramoleigh a week ago. I noticed on my skin it gets really oily after several hours or so. I have extremely dry skin so I usually put lotion before hand. I tried using no lotion on my face and just the pure powder and it seems to still be oily.
Is it because of the way I put it on?
Does having the right brush make a differance? I use a generic brush like the kabuki brush. Should I consider in investing in a brush?
Thanks for any help!

Are you using the Pure Powder or the Pure Cover? Because the Pure Cover used alone can cause some people to get oily. You can use moisturizer before the AL, but you have to be sure that it is completely absorbed (your skin isn't tacky at all) before you apply the powder. An alternative is to actually mix a little AL with your moisturizer & apply them together.
The only other things I can think of would be:
1) What moisturizer are you using?
2) Perhaps you're applying the AL too heavily.
If you're using a kabuki that should be fine - as long as it is a good quality kabuki. Not all kabukis are made equal. Some kabukis will give a heavier application than others.
You could also try using some oil blotting papers (I like Clean & Clear - they remove the oil without disturbing the makeup).

I use lotion mainly on my nose cause it gets so dry it cracks and peels. Just cetaphil or vasaline. Other than that area I don't ware lotion any were else. I have samples of both pure powder and Pure Cover. Both seem to have the same effect on me whch s very unuasual cause I usually have to use a lot of lotion with other brands of powders and foundations!
Thanks!

That never happened to me but I have read that it has happened to MANY, many other ladies with that brand. I don't know the cause but you'll probably want to try a better quality mineral makeup instead and that will probably help.

Hmmm...it's true that not every brand works for everyone, but I've found the *quality* of AL to be equal to Geografx & Botany 101. I also have no complaints about the quality of Monave, Youngblood, & BE - but they just didn't work for me. All are quality products - it's just a matter of finding the one that works best for you. And often, with mineral makeup, it does take an adjustment period to learn the application technique which works best, too.

Hmm, as of now I apply pressed powder while my face is still moist from my lotion. It looks more natural and gives more coverage than just powder on dry skin would. I love the way it turns out. Will I not be able to apply the Aromaleigh with moist skin?

I just wanted to say Aromaleigh is the best thing I have ever used. It does take practice to learn to apply to your own type of skin... everyone is different. I have combination skin with small ocassional breakouts. Since using Aromaleigh, my skin is healthier with NO breakouts. It feels so light and my skin can breathe (not thick and heavy like foundation).
I apply the Pure cover with a VERY slightly misted brush and work in a circular motion. Let it sit and then apply Pure Powder. The key is use very little at a time. You can always add more if needed.
I would like to thank Blue-Eyed Belle for telling us about Aromaleigh! I would have never known make-up like this even existed.. or even know how to apply it!! She is so nice and kind with all her advice! I really think she is great!!!!!!!!
"THANKS BLUE!!!!" :)

I would like to thank Blue-eyedBelle, too! I got my samples the other day and I LOVE this stuff! I usually have trouble with oily skin over my t-zone area, but with this makeup I don't notice it at all. It lasts all day without "melting" off or becoming sticky. I am absolutely thrilled!! I can't wait to try the liners and eyshadows!
Thanks Blue-eyedBelle!!

No. What will happen is that the powder will not adhere evenly - it will stick in spots & be uneven. You have to either let the moisturizer completely absorb or mix the powder with the moisturizer before applying.

Thanks ladies - and you're welcome! Mineral makeup has made a HUGE difference in my life - and my skin! When you're ready, try some samples from some of the other companies - I have products from several different ones.
For instance, I absolutely love the Twilight Dunes & Violet Dusk eyeshadow from GeoGrafx. The colors are incredible!
And the Botany 101 foundation is very nice, too. Just don't order from the regular site unless you want to wait at least 6-8 weeks. Order from the Outpost (the link is on the regular site) and you'll get your order within a week.

I got my samples last wednesday. I didn't like the pure powder at first. I tried applying it both with a brush and with a sponge and wasn't thrilled about the results either way. Too chalky. The next day, I decided to give it another try so I mixed a dash of powder with my facial moisturizer (jojoba oil). When I put it on my skin, it looked nearly orange since it was wet. But after it dried it looked really great! So the next day I tried yet another approach. I put on my moisturizer like I normally do and immediately applied some pure powder with a sponge before the moisturizer had absorbed. I loved the result of this. They key was to do a ton of blending. My skin looked so nice and velvety. I am definitely considering buying a full-sized version of the powder now. I should probably try a sample of the pure cover first though, just to see if I would like more coverage than the pure powder provides. I'm thinking that I may end up using a 25% pure cover + 75% pure powder custom blend.
The drama eyeliners were gorgeous. In my magnified mirror, I could actually see the little gold and green-colored flecks in the Topaz. The Drama violet was gorgeous too. Up close, a vivid, deep purple, but further away just a gorgeous smokiness. The eyeliner samples look like they could last me for months! I went to the craft store and picked up a delicate little paintbrush--perfect for applying the liner. It stayed on pretty well, but I'm wondering, should I get some of the eyeliner sealant?
The colorwash in Mesa was a very pretty neutral-rose color. It looks great on both my lips and cheeks, and it smells yummy. The Aromaleigh newsletter that came with the order advertised that soon they will be selling lipsticks.
